Spring bear draw success!!
I called ODFW late Friday afternoon and asked when they were going to draw for the tags...the lady I spoke with said that they already had drawn and would I like to know the results?
Of course I would like to know...SUCCESS!! The results are not online yet.
Two months to go...

Re: Spring bear draw success!!
I got mine in today for SW Oregon. Success. My first ever bear draw that I put in for. Looking at last years and how many tags were left over for the SW Unit, who wouldn't get picked. LOL

so i was a bit slow and did not put in for my tag, so now my hope is for a left over tag, i figure sw will be the only chance.
but how many tags are generally left over and how fast do they go?

Its more like an hour or two. You better hope the person in line before you has there stuff figured out so they don't hold you up.

Re: Spring bear draw success!!
I just talked with a friend at ODFW and he said there were over 3200 1st choice apps. for SW Or. bear and about 4200 total for 3300 tags. So it looks like only few get second choice and no leftover tags.

762A....Pine/Catherine/Keating.
Melt snow melt!!!
The open south slopes will be huntable earlier than we think, and I'm sure the bears will be out as soon as they can. Unfortunately, the big problem will be getting there.....10ft deep drifts will be lingering on North slope roads for a LONG time.

Wenaha............sounds like a fun trip, who you going with? ..................maybe find some big elk sheds too. Good Luck............I usually put in for S.W. Oregon but I let the deadline slip past.........heck, I haven't even snagged my Sports Pac yet. Talk about slackin'. I was hoping for a left over tag but from what I am reading on this thread, doesn't look like it will happen. Later, Wheels.

I made the mistake of putting sw as my 2nd choice thinking I'd get the tag and a preference point for next year. Didn't work =(
At least I can tag along with a buddy or two.

Re: Spring bear draw success!!
I called them just now to check up on my app after no record on any of their automated systems. I made the mistake of faxing in my app and low and behold the lady said they had no record of it. Luckily for me I have a fax confirmation showing it was sent and received on feb. 8th so she said they will run my number just as if I was in the original drawing. Wish me luck!

Re: Spring bear draw success!!
Leftover tags go onsale in March, they will post online what if any are available some time before then, then you want to be the first person in line that morning if you want one, if your not the first one there, go to another ***, not as bad for bear as it is for deer and elk so if you are second or third inline you might still be able to get one, hopefully they will have licensing online by then and you can do it from home!!!

Re: Spring bear draw success!!
Drew up 4 tags for Minum/Imnaha.
I plan on taking the troops to the minum, so we can scout out the area for Elk (never hunted or seen the terrain in this unit). I don't know if I will be able to get the glass out and scope, or if it will be thick cover???
If we can't find a couple bears back in Minum, I wil have to go to Imnaha and look for some easier bears
