Default Need computer help !!
I have been trying to remove a virus protection that is not working . The program is called AVGFREE , I have tried all the usual , add/remove program , tried updating No luck , tried to download another program No luck , all I get is acess denied , msvcp71.dll not found try reinstalling the application, ( have no clue as to how or where to do that . tried to restore but it dosen't go back that far , I installed the avgfree program 2-3 years ago . Any help would be greatly appreciated , right now I have no virus protection and I can't update any security updates . PLEASE HELP PAT Also can anyone tell me how to start my computer in the " SAFE " mode ?

Go to free.grisoft.com and re-download AVG Anti-Virus and re-install it. Once that's done you can remove it.

May I ask why you are unhappy with AVG? I've recommended it for years.

It's not working , I have no virus protection , I have tried free.grisoft but again it comes up msvcp71.dll not found , I have no clue how to do that ? When AVGfree was working I was happy with it but I haven't used this computer for over a year ( just used my roomates But I moved ) and haven't updated it and now it won't let me ? Pat

You try and install AVG and it won't work? Please provide the exact error message.

i agree whole heartedly. are you using windows version older than XP. if so, that might be why you are having issues....in my opinion avg is far more effective than the paid versions that are out there especially when you pair it up with a good firewall
