Sturgeon

Has any one been doing any sturgeon fishing. I was thinking in the Kelly point area. I think I might have all the salmon I need.

Fished for sturgeon three times last week.

Wednesday afternoon, we tried Kelley Point, but there was zero current. Moved down river and fished the Oregon side across from Frenchmen's Bar. Fishing was not great. In three hours, the wife and I hit about 15 shakers. Bait of choice seemed to be pickled squid.

Fished Thursday and Sunday up out of the Fishery. Thursday, 25 fish including 1-43" shaker and 1-10' monster. Sunday, 30 shakers. A couple were very close to legal. I measure very conservatively as you never know what side of the bed the fish checker woke up on. Not worth a ticket on a questionable fish. Bait of choice seemed to be Cowlitz smelt with some smelly on it.

We caught a 45 last sunday and a 48 this sunday but I would have to say that it has been slow. We spent as much time moving as we did fishing. If your not on a bite in the main channel then find some flats that have clams.

thanks for the the help I guess I will head back out for a few more salmon but not yet this looking for a job is putting a damper on things with interveiws that they seem to wont to be on the days I wont to fish
