Egg Cure Colors
If you could choose any color to cure your eggs what would it be? Does one color outperform others? I don't have knowledge in this area, but am interested in learning. So... what's the color? Red? Orange? Maybe a mix?

Re: Egg Cure Colors
I seem to have the best luck on steelhead with a natural color (orangeish)how's that for a word, and Salmon seem to like the (reddish)color. But to make it even more confusing I've caught both fish on both colors, steelhead I have done better with a natural color.I've bought some of Amerman,s
cure in both the red and orange I'll use that for winter steelhead untill I get lucky enough to catch a hen then I'll just borax hers and use them right away, thats the best bait.Didn't really answer your question but I feel better for trying

Re: Egg Cure Colors
I like Cliniques Ruby red, or Estee Lauders Mango Glaze, but a little Bonnie Bell pink shunshine mixed with a little Mabelines frosty peach sometimes is a go.
Hey.... I think I need to back away.... from the computer!

Re: Egg Cure Colors
The dye I use in my main two cures has a fair amount of blue in it. This is because I do alot of bobber fishing in tidewater and the blue/purple color is more visable. The light waves are longer and penetrate deeper into the murk. I have been experminentating with some fairly radical colors this year, results not in so I will not say anything else. Most of the commerical cures with the basic red are an effective color for salmon. Scott A uses a good dye for salmon in his cure. Steelhead will usually prefer a more orange color unless the water has color then the red works better.

Re: Egg Cure Colors
I have recently started using Scott A's orange color on nooks and must say it's my favorite color so far. Next favorite is pro-cure redd hot double stuff.

Re: Egg Cure Colors
That color question again. Add your color with the okies and keep them natural and dye as you need. Those glowing colors are pretty cool though.

Re: Egg Cure Colors
Yep, that color question again... I'm asking because I plan on buying some cure, for whenever I catch that big fish...

Re: Egg Cure Colors
I tend to have the most confidence with orange -- Pro-cure flame orange -- or some name like that.
Right, now I have some eggs curing in Amerman's salmon cure / orange, and I look forward to seeing how they finish up, and of course, how they fish.

Re: Egg Cure Colors
I see that there are a lot of different opinions on this topic. Is there a reason behind one color outproducing the other? I'm getting the hint that natural is better.
