Default Life by the River - 2 Edged Sword

First there is the good news! I live out in Warren which is nice in that I am about 2 miles from my home port of Scappoose Bay Marina and close to some great fishing just about all year long.

Then there is the other news!! I get to see all of the boats headed out for a day of fishing on my near daily commute into downtown Portland where I begin my work day.

Take today for example. This morning I'm cruising South on Highway 30 noting the fields that the Geese are working and who do I pass, but Tacklebuster dragging his unmistakable Teal striped Rengade for a day of Fishing. Not a couple of minutes later I pass an Alumiweld Sled with a Mercury Outboard Jet on it (I don't know the owner of this boat yet, but I've seen it a couple of times and they're headed out for a great day on the water too). Sometimes I'll see the same boat everyday for a week arriving a little later each day for the good tide.

I have also seen the new 5-Cents craft (you can't miss that one) and the Kentucky Hog Hunter (also hard to miss) more than once. At least I had my North River in tow when I passed 5-Cents while returning from a great day on the water.

My point is that I may need a support group for this condition soon. Maybe Hogmaster and I can get together as it appears he has a similar blessing/curse thing going on. Are there any others with this condition. Come on, fess up.

If any of you pulling noticable Ifish boats down Highway 30 see some crazed looking guy that you don't recognize is waving at you please don't worry. It's probably just me saying hello. By the way I did see Tacklebuster and the Red Alumaweld on my way home from work today at about 5:20PM.

You need to discover the joys of self-employment... come to think of it that is a double edged sword too

You think you've got it bad, try working with a beautiful view of the river. Nice folks catching steelhead while your chained to the desk!!!

It is great to enjoy the beauty all day long, then run down the hill for an hour or so for a quick shot at the fish.

The day started slow for us but ended up OK. We tried for sturgeon in the morning but lack of water run out and the over abundance of wind made it a little tricky.

We bathed some kwickies from about 1:00 or so until 4:30. We had two pound downs and put a nice springer to the boat but it had two many rudders so she swimmed off into the murky depths.

Hope to see you on the river soon....
