Default Bear hunting Basics?

I have never bear hunted before. Not sure I want to committ to starting on an eastern Oregon spring hunt. Where is western oregon are there good concentrations of bears? Anything near Portland in the
cascade for frequent trips on weekends? I assume that you want to avoid the deer and elk seasons to avoid the masses of hunters. I have heard them grumble before while elk hunting...crashing through the brush down outside of Lebanon. Thats been a few years and I am not even sure the gates are open down there anymore...since Willamette got bought out by Werehouser.

Anywhere in the cascades has a good amount of bears. Just get out and glass. Think grass for spring and berries for fall.
