Top Ramen recipes
I was thinking after looking at another thread about all the different ways you can cook Top Ramen. Not only is it quick and easy, but you can make so many variations to it. I had posted about adding eggs, mushrooms, jalapenos and cheese. I always drain off all water and then add the "special sauce", but was interested in everyones variations. One thing I have found is that you can dice up most leftovers and add to the mix. Since it is so quick and easy we always take it camping with us. Anyone else have Ramen recipes they want to share?
Here is mine
1. Boil Ramen for 4-5 minutes, then crack 1 egg and stir in.
2. Add 1 small can of Mushrooms and 1 small can Jalapenos and stir in.
3. After boiling everything for another 4-5 minutes, drain off ALL water then replace on low heat.
4. Stir in Ramen powder
5. Take thin sliced cheese ( I prefer pepperjack) and let melt over top.
6. Enjoy the quick and easy meal.

That sounds tasty! I am going to try it with country gravy and sausage over the top. My thoughts are that while out camping you could do the deer burger/sausage with ramen and have campfire biscuits and gravy type dish.

Re: Top Ramen recipes
I just found this one, YUM!!
Pepperoni Pizza Soup
Make this recipe campfire-friendly by chopping up the veggies, cheese and pepperoni at home. Store in individual baggies, put them all in a larger baggie and toss the whole thing in the cooler.
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 small onion, chopped; 1/2 cup fresh mushrooms, sliced; 1/2 cup green pepper, chopped
1/2 cup pepperoni slices
2 cloves garlic
2 cups beef broth (2 beef seasoning packets and 2 cups water)
1 cup tomato sauce
1 teaspoon basil
2 packages ramen (no seasoning packet)
1/4 cup mozzarella cheese
1. In medium saucepan, saute onions, mushrooms, green pepper, pepperoni and garlic in olive oil until tender.
2. Add broth, tomato sauce, basil and raw noodles. Simmer for about 10 minutes or until mixture thickens.
3. Top with mozzarella.
Yields 4 servings

Re: Top Ramen recipes
This is one that I learned at work.
Take one bag of Ramen and one of the $.99 bag of Doritos. Open the doritos and smash them into small pieces while still in the bag(careful not to puncture bag). Add dry ramen and seasoning packet. Add just enough wet everything down and close the bag and wrap in into a dish towel. You will have something that looks like a burrito when you are done that is pretty tasty.

Re: Top Ramen recipes
My kids would take out the flavor pack sprinkle it on the dry noodles and eat it that way. I never tried it, I think all of the other ways already mentioned would be better.

I am assuming hot water? Also, do you just wait until it just clumps together? It sounds tasty, plus there all all the flavors of doritos to try.

One of my fondest memories from my childhood is sitting infront of the TV with my Twin brother and eating it dry while watching "Weekend at bernies"
still eat it dry from time to time

Re: Top Ramen recipes
War Wonton
1) A little olive oil in a pan heat and add
2) Garlic and chicken chunks, cook until done then
3) add water and season packet, canned mushrooms, bring to a boil
4) add the Romen Brick and dont break it up. cook until it just starts to soften
5) Take the brick out and put it in the bottom of a bowl
6) Keep boiling the liquid and add some egg whites
7) Take a package of mixed frozen Veggies and put some over the Romen brick
8) Pour the hot contents from the pan into the bowl.
Adding shrimp to the mix is a plus

I am probably dumb, but I don't follow. You wrap the doritos bag in a dish towel? Then you pick pieces of this "stuff" out?

Re: Top Ramen recipes
My favorite ramen noodle recipe: purchase a thick cut NY steak from a specialty type grocer like the Tacoma Boys, Marinate briefly in Lawrys steak and chop marinade, also purchase a bundle of asparagus and a large baking potato. Fill a pan half full of water and fire up the Weber charcoal grill. Use a charcoal chimney. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT use lighter fluid. Once the coals in the chimney are all white, pour them into the grill. Put the pan of water on top of the stove. When the water comes to a boil, put the steak on the grill(not in the pan). add asparagus to the boiling water and cover and reduce to lowheat. Add the steak to the Weber and cook to Med rare. At this time, put the large baking potato in the microwave and set to "1" potato, or "2" potatos as needed. Here is the most important part of the meal. Open the package of ramen noodles and crush the block of noodles. It is very important that they be crushed. I like to crush them in the bag so that less of a mess is made. Slowly open the bag and remove the seasoning package and open it. Pour the seasoning into the bag. Now, check the steak for doneness and also check on the asparagus, it should be done by now. This is the most important part of the recipe, pour the package of ramen noodles and seasoning directly into the toilet, flush twice. If you failed to crush the noodles you are likely mopping the bathroom floor right now as the toilet is plugged solid. Its very important that the ramen noodles are flushed, if they are placed in the garbage, the possibility exists that a stray animal may find them. I would not be able to rest knowing that I was the reason another living being consumed ramen noodles. Enjoy the NY steak and fresh vegetables. Best served with a Sam Adams Boston Lager or other fine beer of your choice.

Next time you cook this try putting the asparagus in a ziploc bag with some olive oil, add a little salt and mix it until the asparagus is evenly coated then grill the asparagus on the Weber. It's much better than steamed or boiled.

Re: Top Ramen recipes
Here's my favorite!
Easy Asian Beef and Noodles
1 8-oz Ribeye steak
1 tsp dark sesame oil, divided
1 cup (1-inch) sliced green onions
2 cups packaged cabbage-and-carrot coleslaw
2 packages beef-flavored ramen noodles
1 1/2 cups water
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1. Trim fat from steak; cut diagonally across grain into thin slices. Heat 1/2 teaspoon oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add steak and green onions; stir-fry 1 minute. Remove steak mixture from skillet; keep warm. Heat remaining 1/2 teaspoon oil in skillet over medium-high heat. Add slaw; stir-fry 30 seconds. Remove slaw from skillet; keep warm.
2. Remove noodles from packages; reserve 1 seasoning packet for another use. Add water and remaining seasoning packet to skillet; bring to a boil. Break noodles in half; add noodles to water mixture. Cook noodles 2 minutes or until most of liquid is absorbed, stirring frequently. Stir in steak mixture, slaw, and soy sauce; cook until thouroughly heated.
Makes 2 servings and if you're into Weight Watchers is 10 points per serving.
We usually add broccoli, and I'm sure there's other veggies that would be good in there, too! And I don't always get a ribeye steak... whatever's on sale!

I am guilty of this as well. In fact I have done it in the recent past.

Use hot water, but just enough to get everything wet. You wrap the bag into a dish towel because it is to hot to hold. Let it set up for about 5 minutes then remove from dish towel and doritos bag and eat. It will be be similar in appearance to a burrito.
