Default Help Me Spend My Money...

Alright heres the deal, I have $100 to spend at cabelas and sportmans.
My problem is I'm trying to buy stuff I actually need. So I'm thinking of getting a Daiwa M-CV-Z253LA for slingin' spinners in the bay. Right now I use my Curado but It doesn't hold that much 20-25lb test and I love it so I don't want to tear it up.
I also want to possibly get a jig fishing setup. I don't really jig fish at all so I'm not sure what I need. I know a 9-91/2 rod but I'm not sure if I want to use a spinning reel or not. Just not a big fan of them. Or should I get a bobber rod for fall? Maybe I'll buy the jig rod and the bobber rod?
I guess what I need to know is what are some decent rods for this that don't cost a lot but are functional. I'm not drift fishing so It's not like they need to be sensitive.

Please help, I'm hesitant since I'm not that familiar.

Thanks In advance

$100 won't get you too far if you're including the Millionaire in that figure. If we're just talking rods, then you've got some wiggle room. And keep that curado on your drifter where it belongs. Really think about the fishing you do and what you really need.

Jig fishing is all the rage this year but if it's not your cup of tea then you probably won't fish the technique even though you bothered to bring the rod and all your jigs along for the trip. I'm guessing a nice meatstick with a softer tip for pitching spinners in the bay that doubles as a big bobber rod would be what you're in the market for. Without the price of the reel, you'd do pretty well. If you have to put a reel on that rod, an Abu with Tuff would fit the bill and you could do the whole rig for a little over $100.

Geoff,
My dad has a diawa millionaire and likes it (he doesn't fish much). The buzz ramsey 8-12 9'6 is a good little jig rod (I know you don't like softer rods, but the tough line takes out your worries involving hooksets and they will fight fish pretty well) As for a bobber rod, allstar makes a pretty nice one you can get @ sportsmans for a decent price. Cabelas has pretty decent blades and some of there walleye spinner rig components make pretty good driftfishing additives. Anyways hope this is a decent help. (you know how much my advice is worth )

The Daiwa CVZ-253 is a magnificent reel. Way too magnificent for slinging anything in salt water. It has a bunch of ball bearings and magnesium components. Salt water will destroy it. Stick with Penn Internationals and/or Ambassadeurs. It would break my heart to use my CVZs in salt water.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Thumper I wasn't aware it had magnesium components. I had heard good things about them but never used one myself. I just don't want all the saltwater and wear to ruin my Curado(also the line capacity issue).

Hogmaster good point. Thanks for the advice.

If I ever get free time from work I might go shopping, but this week has been miserable.

Thanks Geoff
