Sportsman show
So Pop's and I decided to head out for the Sportsmans show after I got off work at 530. I figured it would take an our to get from Foster/i205 to the expo center. I was wrong. We did not arrive at the show until 717pm last night. What a traffic nightmare that was. As we were inching our way up 205 we heard there was a Blazer game and of course there just happen to be an accident in the center lane near Lloyd Center. Told dad we might be better off heading for Marine drive and making our way to the expo center that way.
It appeared to be a good choice until we got to about 5th street or so (where ever the Jubitz turn off is) when traffic came to a complete dead stop. Inch by inch we moved for the next 35 minutes trying to make it to the expo center. All I can say is I am sure glad I do not commute to Vancouver or to the west side. YUK!
Breezed through a few booths here and there. Picked up some jet heads from Eat Me Lures booth and Looked at the new Archer Bars. Hopefully Bud will get me some green bars set up cause I really like to give them a shot.
Stopped and chatted with some friends here and there and had a good time out there. Wish I could have stopped at the reel booths and played with Gucci gear but time just flat ran out.
Better allow 3 or 4 hours at least to see what you wanna see.

Re: Sportsman show
What was the selection of Offshore Boats like, just curious. Also was the Eat me booth the best for Tuna Lures.
Thanks,

Re: Sportsman show
My Granddaughter and I went to the show.
Went straight to the pond, she limited out in short order, then she let Grandpa carry her fish, and show them off to all his friends.
Like Bernie, I picked up some great deals from Eat Me Lures, some Archer Bars, (thanks Bud), then followed her to all the stuff she wanted to see and finally home. She was one tired seven year old, but she has some stories for show and tell today.

Are you sure you don't mean 3 or 4 days? Lots of good seminars going on also; and, as usual, two that I want to see are going on at the same time.

Re: Sportsman show
Went yesterday and spent 3.5 hours having fun. ran into Odin, Jennie, Corrirod and of course Eat Me Lures along with the OTC and Nalu. It was so fun I have to take the wife back today and do it again.
Just curious, saw a crab davitt that fits into the gunnel mounted rod holder. This unit is form California and looks ok for rings, but don't know about pots. Anyone got any input or info on this sort of device? Don't know if you could damage your gunnel or your rod holder.

Re: Sportsman show
The usual suspects in offshore boats. Nice N/R's, over priced M/M, nice for the price Baybee and a Steiger. Rod needs to get a parker out here before i spend money i don't have!

Re: Sportsman show
Great time at the show last night. Lots of different tuna lures to look at. Some new stuff also coming from the East and Gulf Coast. Good topics to view and listen to. Bought some great Grunden foul weather gear for cheap. $20 for jacket and $20 for pants. Also saw some interesting rod and reels made in China. I wonder about those if the quality is as good. They are sure shinny. Seems every rod builder there has tuna rods for sale now. By the way my feet hurt last night after 5 hours of walking around.

Re: Sportsman show
There wasn't a real big boat showing (course this isn't the boat show). There is NR, Alumaweld, TJ, Some glass boats were there but not allot. Precision Weld and Motion Marine had a couple boats.
I went on opening day. Had to park at Portland Meadows and get shuttled into the expo. Crazy.
I did pull the trigger on an 08 Luxor offshore though. Now I have to go back this weekend and get the accessories.

Re: Sportsman show
There's a good selection of tuna lures in both the Eat Me Lures booth and Englund Marine booth...Likewise Bud has Archer bars in the OTC booth every day after 5:00....
Both Eat Me Lures and Englund have there lures on sale at good discounts.
The OTC booth has had a lot of familiar faces stop by to say hi and many new people wanting to join us this year.
I've been floating between the OTC, Scotty Downriggers and Daiwa booths each and have met some new Salty Dog friends.
Stop by and say hi if you get the chance.

Re: Sportsman show
Fisherman's had some sale prices on fish traps, cedar plugs, and 65' handline kits.
Bob's had a killer deal in the bin on jig(swim bait) heads and bulk spools of mono for topshots.
