Re: one that got away...
I wonder if it actually swam out the Willamette, and up the Columbia, and spent it's life just below Hanford??

Re: one that got away...
Wow, according to the weight calculator based off the dimensions given it weighs 30.62090322580645 lbs. A near world record. 4Salt, no missed clip. The North Fork trap is to sort out the hatchery fish from the wild ones. The wild fish can go and it's the end of the road for the hatchery fish. Good to see it off to the spawning beds, hopefully it'll spawn successfuly.

I don't know for sure, but judging by its eyes, that fish is dead. They aren't "turned down" like every one I have ever released. Maybe it was just posin', but I kinda doubt it. Sure woulda liked to see its offspring though! One helluva coho to be sure!!

Re: one that got away...
That's one mean looking fish, if looks could kill.......watch out. Think I recognize that fish, it's the fish I let go at Buoy 10. Already had 2 silvers looking for a chinook, decided to let that monster silver head upstream to spawn. Looks like it's almost made it. Now if you believe that, I have some choice swamp land to sell ya.
With the head out of proportion, hard to make a good call on the eyes, they look to be facing downward. I think that fish is ALIVE!!

one that got away...
This is one large coho that escaped the lures, bait and nets. Captured at the North Fork trap on the Clackamas River, it is the largest coho ever, in 30 years, seen in the Clackamas by PGE biologist Doug Cramer. Measured 41.2 inches in length and 24 inches in girth.

Re: one that got away...
That fish is the "Carl Maulden" of Coho for sure!
By the way, did they miss the clip on that fish, or is it a wild one that followed the brats into the trap?
Hope they use that fish for brood. Those genes oughtta make a few more monsters.
