Default Is the Wilson ready for me yet?

Is there any reports of action on the Wilson yet? I'm looking forward to learning this river.

Well it was ready for me last Friday.I got this beautiful nook down in tidewater. I think after all this rain the Wilson will be the GO-TO river. We weren't in the boat just on the bank fishing.

No fish in the Wilson. The run there doesn't start until December; if I remember right. ... That is right isn't it Thumper?

RT

Edit: That got to me, so I had to come back and tell the truth. The lower Wilson already had good fish before the rains hit yesterday. I fished from the bank last Thur. with Mark Anderson from 7:30 to noon and we hooked 4 and landed 3 (hooked 2 each); and also a small one, a nice cutthroat lip-hooked and easily released. But all the Tillamook tribs will have plenty of fish running up them now - the Trask with the most fish.

I drove down Makinster road the other day saturday I think before these rains hit and saw a few salmon rolling in tidewater down there. There will be fish in the Wilson and Kilchis but I agree about bigger runs in the Trask. The trask also gets more cohos and you can keep clipped ones on that river. Frog

Hey RT, there aren't any fish in the Trask At least there won't be any on Saturday cause I'm gonna go float it in a banana colored drift boat and kill the bite

Try the "Nelson Hole" off of McInster (West of 101 bridge) for bank bobber fishing. Have not been there in a while, so don't know the parking or landowner situation. ASK first, maybe walk in and don't get any tickets.

KEEP ANYTHING YELLOW off "my" Trask.

Nice catch Tracy.

Nice fish! Thanx all for the tips (Even you RT). I'm planning on going with the driftboat and putting in at the guide shop and taking out at Sollie Smith bridge. Does that sound right? I was planning on using the guide shop's shuttle service. Anyone have any commens on them? Any others I should use instead? I know very little about the Trask. Mark Anderson and RT gave me some info on drifting the Wilson. So if I catch all the fish over there, you can blame them!

We have used the Guide Shops shuttle service before. Found it to be very reasonable and reliable.

I fished the wilson and the trask both yesterday. There is fish everywhere. Saw mostly boots in the trask (upper), saw lot's of good fish rolling in the wilson with not many biters. I had 1 bobber down, with 10 seconds of bliss then it was over.

Catch 22, I have been using a fellow named Bob Barnett for the Wilson, Trask and he also shuttles the Kilchis. Very nice ole guy and you can call him the night before to set up your shuttle. His ph#503.842.2033.

He also lives on the Wilson and can give you up to date river levels (his are pretty accurate) and fishing reports.

Good Luck!

Bob Barnett is a good bet for a shuttle. He lives right on the river and usually gets fishing reports from the people he shuttles. I hear he also will filet your catch for a small price if you ask him to.
