Default Length x Width

Does anyone know what the formula is for determining the weight of a salmon if you have the length and girth?
Say, for example, you were fishing Tillamook Bay, on Saturday, near the picket fence, using a rainbow spinner. And say, right before low tide you caught and landed a bright hen. And then, let’s just say, you did not have a scale on board so you took a length and girth measurement, 39” x 22” respectfully, before the fish was introduced to the fish box. What would be the weight of this fish? I would have guessed between 22# and 24#, can anyone help me out?

I wish this had happened to me, but it happened to my buddy I was with.

there are a couple formulas out there but if you go by the scale on www.steelheader.net, it equates to length x girth squared divided by 775 which equals 24.35 lbs with the measurements you've given. Nice fish.
