Default Info about an old Ithaca and Savage??

Hey there my fellow gun junkies,

I am trying to get some information about a buddy's guns. He is a busy father, and doesn't have much time to research them, but I know he would like to. I said I would throw it out there for all of you gunners who have really impressed me with the help and knowledge you have shared with me on a few of my posts recently. Any input helps. Thanks again. He has 2 guns of particular interest:

Model 37 featherweight Ithaca 12g shotgun (pretty old, it has the checkered inlay with ducks and pheasants)

300 Savage model 99 (old)-It has the small very thin forestock and is a lever action.

If anybody knows anything about these guns, I/he would love to hear about it. year, values, etc... THANKS AGAIN!!

Is that chambered in .300? I know the ballistics are not supreme, but my buddy has killed some deer with it. His G-pa killed a lot more His is in good shape too! Do you hunt with that? He does, maybe he should retire it as I bet it is worth a good amount. I have a hard time hunting with classic guns. I am afraid to shralp em up! Thanks again for sharing the pic. They are really cool guns.

A friend of mine that used to live in Kalispell, Mont had a Mod 99 saddle ring in 303 Sav. That was about 1972 and the Savage Rep offered him any new Savage firearm he wanted and $1200 for it. As for the Mod 37 Featherweight, I have one in 16ga and I'd let you touch it for $350. Not sure and don't care what it's worth.

Here's a more recent pic of the same rifle. It's a Savage 99EG, .300 savage cal. One of the most common types of 99. They range in value from $300 to $3000+ depending on year, model (there are alot of different 99's), caliber and condition. This one is in the 500,000 serial # range and was built in 1950. If someone on this board had a 99 on consignment last year in Molala, THANK YOU!

I intend to hunt everything taggable in Oregon with it. And Nutria of course.

Thanks a lot guys. This is cool stuff. They are really cool guns. I thought my pre-64 Winny was cool. These lever guns are sweet!
