Default Rouge Rods...anyone try one?

was just at a local sporting goods store, and they had rouge rods. looked like pretty neat fishing rods. seemed like they were inbetween a g-loomis and a lamiglass. just curious weather anyone has one of these rods or has tried one? look forward to seeing what people have to say about them. thanks in advance. Ok, first you have to spell it correctly......

These rods are being built in Southern Oregon. They're built from the blank up, I believe using 2nd hand equipment purchased from G-Loomis. Pretty nice stuff, the last time I was in Gold Beach, I fished with some. It seems like maybe the thread job could be a little better, the gold looks like a quantum rod. I don't know the warranty.

What tackle shop is carrying them??

I have bought a few and love the way they feel and work. I have the plug puller and boy do they have a good back bone.

I've had a Rogue 8 1/2'Plug Rod for about 14 years now and have used/abused it on everything from Wind River Kings to Cowlitz Steelies and Sekiu Coho on the downrigger.

BEST darn rod I've ever had! If I ever lose or break it I'll cry a river or two. That rod is a part of me.

Hey CS, SO what's the price range on these rods? And does everyone agree that they are worth that price?

I tend to be a cheap bast*** and don't spend enough to get a rod that won't break. I baught a couple of those 8'6" Shakespeare salmon\stealhead rods, one med\heavy and one heavy. The med\heavy has done fine but the heavy broke on the first fish I caught on it. Thank God for GIjoes return policy. They replaced it with another one which has worked out just fine. I'm just a little skeptical about this rod handling much over it's 30lbs rating. I'd hate to loose my first big King to a weak rod.

Hello,

I had the opprortunity to meet the owners of Rogue Rods and they gave me a few to try during a recent episode of my show....Awesome Rods...No Doubt about it.

I used the 9' 15-30#, 2-piece for bobber fishing...Light with a good butt section and also used the 8'2", 12-25# 1-piece pulling spinners & Kwikfish...Very nice also. They have a very fast taper and a light tip section for sensativity. The rod looks like a Loomis GLX and is about the same weight. I was also given 2 steelhead rods, one in particular a 9'6", 8-17# that I cannot wait to try....

Thanks again guys...Now we need to go fishing! I will be airing a show specifically on Rogue Rods in the next month. I will post here when it will air.

Talk Later,

Scott

FT, the rods are priced at about 140 to 200, kind of between a lamiglass and a g-loomis. so they aren't really that cheep, but from what it sounds like they are good rods.
hottamale1, let me know how that 9'6" 8-17 fishes, that is exactly the rod i would be interested in. thanks for all the info, i'm going to have to go back and look at those rods again!

STZ II...

D&E Rods out of Battleground, WA is building the Rods for Rogue. The do an excellent job and may be able to help you find out where these rods can be bought. You may be able to buythem directly from D&E, but you may have to buy more than one.

I don't have there phone number handy but you can find them at....

Good Luck,
