What's your preference? Just wondering?

Well, shrimp kinda stink, and I hate poking and tearing them. And eggs are way too gooey and mess up the tackle and the boat. I much prefer lures, corkies and such. BUT, I catch a whole lot more fish on the danged eggs. So as much as I hate them I use eggs. And not just any eggs --- Amerman eggs. Sticky, gooey, yucky Amerman eggs. Love 'em.

I've heard of a "shrimp & egg sandwich," but never tried it. I think the set up was shrimp on the hook, eggs in the loop, and there might have been a piece of yarn above.

Anyone know?

When bobber fishing or backbouncing I use a combination of both.

eggs:
they will keep for weeks as long as you remember to take them out of your car and put them back in the fridge when you get back home. if they're any good at all, they seem to go flying elsewhere on about my third cast. probably has something to do with the fact that the fish are all on the other side of the river. i bought my first package of the D&G vacuum packed a few weeks ago and they're tough as nails. so far, they haven't caught me any fish.

sand shrimp:
they stay on the hook really well as long as they're fresh, which is usually only for about 45 minutes. then, they seems to go to mush and fly off on the first cast. they don't keep more than a day, if that. this makes them more expensive to fish with.

i've caught most of my fish so far drifting corkie and yarn. i did pull some late spring chinook last year doing sand shrimp under a bobber, though. overall, bait seems to be more trouble than it's worth.
