Santiam Native
Went out today and fished the Santiam and found one of those trophy natives. Hook-up was right in the corner of the mouth and she was released imediatley after the picture. Go make some more for next year.

Re: Santiam Native
That a beauty . It's nice to fish the santiam this time of year when theres no one else around and you can have some banner days. Enjoy it while you can cuz it's only going to last for about 3 more months.
Congrats on the chromer.

Re: Santiam Native
Congratulations on a great fish! You must be fishing on the South Santiam, because there may be banner days on the North Santiam anytime from now through September. Since river flow dropped today to a great fishing level, and will remain low until more rain events, more action like that should happen on both Santiams.

Re: Santiam Native
I'm heading to the Santiam in a few minutes. I'm going to try the bobber/jig or pink worm. I'm dying to get my first fish with this method. The Santiams are running quite low right now, time to find some steel.
That's a nice native chromer!

Re: Santiam Native
Well, zero fish hooked. I did not see a fish on or a fish roll. We went to the Jefferson general area.
I'm going north tomorrow, OC area, off the bank. I'll be looking for steel, and maybe an early springer. I like paid holidays, nice to get paid to fish. I'm bringing a newbie. He went one time salmon fishing with me last year, and showed me up. I didn't touch one, but he hooked and lost one on his first ever trip. We fished the Little Nestucca in November.
Bummer, I was just invited to go sturgeon fishing tomorrow, but I already have committed to our plans. I've never sturgeon fished. I took a rain check for sometime later.
SKP

Re: Santiam Native
I drove over a bridge on the N. Santiam between Stayton and Scio and saw a few people fishing. Did anyone do any good this weekend during the low water conditions?
