Default Trippin' the Light Fantastic

Last night, the Vancouver Parks and Recreation Dept. held a Father/Daughter Valentine's dance.

Myself, being the proud owner of a beautiful 10 year old girl, was lucky enough to purchase tickets before they sold out.

We arrived to the dance at about 6:45. We were concerned that we might have trouble getting in, due to the fact that they had oversold on a previous dance and had to turn us away due to the fire marshall and building capacity issues. We didn't have any issues this time and made it inside in short order.

Once in, of course you have to get your picture taken with your date, so we did that before we went into the dance.

When we walked into the ballroom, I saw something that gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling. All those proud Dads and their beautiful little girls. I knew that we were going to have a good time.

We danced almost every song and had a blast. We will definately go again next year. It was one of those nights you hope to remember forever.

With my girl being almost 11 and growing up so fast, I feel like I have to do everything I can with her now, before she goes over to the dark side. No, not TUNA!,.............. BOYS!!! I figure I have about 2 years, but that is probably stretching it a bit. At least she will be able to out fish them.

Good luck to all the dads out there. Enjoy it while you can. I know I am!

Having a young daughter myself, I'd like to recommend that you look at that bill of sale again and see exactly who owns who.

Sounds like fun. If you make it to 13 with your daughter you'll have done better than me. My 12 year old has been off fishing for quite a long time now. Would rather go to the mall and shop. Her last trip with me was 2 summers ago and had to force her to go. Although she had fun once there. Hoping that my 5 year old will be like her brother and fish with me as long as he's living at home.

Good job Dad, and you are right. She will change in a few years, and it's not just boys, her whole world woll turn upside down.

Great book " I'm not mad, I just hate you" gives some insight.

But if you did your job (and I think you did) she will come back to you between 17 - 20.

I'v got one back (21), one almost back (17,5) and one deep into the dark side (14.8)
