Re: To shoot or not my new gun
Technically, its not a gun until you shoot it.
Otherwise its just decoration.

Re: To shoot or not my new gun
It would be a shame to not use a good rifle for its intended purpose, in my opinion. If you're not going to shoot it, how much $ do you want for it?

Re: To shoot or not my new gun
I'd guess it would really depend upon your intent in buying it...
Did you buy it as an investment, to sell later (and make a profit off of)?
Or did you buy it just because you thought it was "cool" and that you could shoot it and always sell it, sometime later, and not lose any $$$ on?
I guess those are the two categories it falls into.
If it's the 1st, then it becomes a Safe Queen.
The latter, and what everyone else on here has already said, "shoot it".

Re: To shoot or not my new gun
If you take the pot metal floor plate off that is stamped with "100 year anniversary" it is just another rifle.
Shoot it.

Re: To shoot or not my new gun
I would shoot it. You will still take care of it...you know you will. I would even bet it gets to be a more beautiful rifle when you get a few scratches on it...scratches always lead to hunting stories.
You can show your friends your fancy new rifle with no scratches...or you can show your friends your fancy new rifle with scratches...and then tell the story behind them. Your choice.
Personally I like the stories...which come from scratches.

Re: To shoot or not my new gun
Depends on if you bought it for a investment or to hunt. Did you not know when you bought it?

Why would you buy a gun if not to shoot it.

Re: To shoot or not my new gun
Let us know how this thing runs out of the box. If it were a 1 off gun I would still shoot it, it is what they are meant to do.
