Good place to eat in Hood River?
I am taking my GF up the gorge this afternoon to see it for the first time. Does anyone know a good place to eat in Hood River for lunch or dinner?

Head South on Hwy 35 to a small Italian restaurant called "Santacroce's". OK, so i know i butchered the spelling, but it's pronounced "Santa" "Crochets". Pretty good authentic Italian food in my opinion and your GF will be impressed!

Big Horse Brew Pub at 115 State St (between 1st & 2nd). The building is constructed on the face of a cliff. Call ahead and see if you can reserve a window table and you will have a good view of Hood River. Sometimes (weekends) they have live music there.

Re: Good place to eat in Hood River?
We both had the Multnomah Salmon Cesar Salad. It was excellent. We watched the snow fall and the water falls while we ate. I would definitely recommend it as a place to take an out of town guest. Thank you for the suggestion.

When I was little, and we would go to visit my grandma in Hood River, I always loved to stop at Char Burger. I thought they had the best burgers ever! Went there a few years ago, and it sure wasn't like I remembered. Either the food or my tastes have changed quite a bit. I will always have fond memories of that place, though.

I'll second that,
Also, be sure to take her over the bridge of the gods! It brings out the best in a girlfriend! Don't ask me how I know!

Re: Good place to eat in Hood River?
I realize the original poster already had their meal, but others may refer to this thread for info...
places to eat in The Hood...I live here. I haven't tried them all yet, but working on it.
Depends on your budget and event. Casual lunch, I like The Trillium on Oak Street. Very casual set up, toys for the kids, full bar for the adults, tasty local inspired food that goes beyond the basic Applebee's style menu but still has food for the little ones.
Other lunch spot is The Solstice across the river in Bingen. It is not typical, it is not inexpensive. However, it's local, mostly organic, a very friendly family nice place with meals that you can't find in most places. Yes, it's tree hugger heavy but that isn't always a bad thing.
Dinners we usually hit Sixth Street Bistro in Hood river, on Sixth between oak and cascade. Upstairs is bar atmosphere, downstairs is intimate resteraunt. Food is great, beer is tasty, wine list pretty good. Tuesday nights is two for one deals. Our other dinner place is the brew joint at the top of 2nd street. I honestly never pay attention to the name, but something like Big Horse..it's already been mentioned. When my wife gives me the chosing power, that's were I head to. Casual, relaxed, tasty, great views. Pool tables downstairs if you wanna shoot some stick while you enjoy some good beer.
We did the Three River's grill off of Oak Street. Overpriced, poor service, lackluster food.
River's Saloon..I thikn that's the name...it's at the corner of 2nd and Cascade. Best ribs in around, full bar, live music on weekends. Local crowd, nice people.
Double Mountain Brew house..corner of fourth and Columbia....good pizza, brew house. Smaller joint, mostly locals, occasional music..seating includes couches, coffee tables, some tables..more of a hang out joint with good food and drinks.
plus many many many many more.
The service and food at Timberline Lodge in the Cascade Dining Room has to be some of the best that I have ever experienced in all my travels. I realize it's not in the Gorge but if you are up that way, and they happen to be seating, and there is room, and your wallet needs a little liberation from the cash it's carrying...stop in. You won't regret it. Sunday Brunchs are worth the drive, especially if the weather is decent.
Steve

Heh. Now that's funny! I'll pass though, I broke up with her not the other way around. I like dating and having a GF but I don't want to get married again for a long time if ever so this one was getting a bit to deep so she had to go. Nice lady but not the right one for me.
