Default Spawn Sacks

I recently ran into a guy bank fishing on the Clackamas river that was using spawn sacks as bait. He said that that was his way of using up his roe leftovers.
It seemed a pretty neat and clean way to fish eggs.
I would like to give it a try and would welcome some opinions of fishing eggs in this manner.
Does anybody fish with spawn sacks regularly?Pros and cons?
I did a search for spawn sacks and aside from a reference to sissy great lakes fishing techniques, there wasn't alot.
Any info is welcomed!
Mike

Years ago I started using them. Made up a bunch and stored them in one of the egg scent bottles they sell. I think they are still there.......wonder if they would work? They are sure popular on the East Coast.

I sometimes use cheese cloth and wrap up my eggs for tidewater fishing. This seems to slow down the bullheads and smolts a little. I haven't tried it for drift fishing though.

I have used them in the past and had great success with eggs while steelhead fishing. They are also nice for holding together a gob of eggs along with a shrimp when going after nooks.

You can buy the spawn sacks at most fishing stores (usually a deep red color). I prefer to buy it from a craft store because it's cheaper, stronger and you can make larger spawn sacks from it. I can't remember what it's called but I believe it's commonly used in weddings... Michael's craft store in Oregon City is where I've bought it in the past...

You will also need a strong thread or other material to tie the top of the sacks with. I think it's called Magic Thread in the fishing stores...
