Default Sufix DNA vs Maxima Perfexion

The other day I had a chance to try out both Sufix DNA and Maxima Perfexion head to head. I was using bobber/jig on a 9' spinning rod, Okuma Avenger AV-30 reel. I had 8lb maxima on the aluminum spool and 8lb Sufix on the spare graphite spool. I fished both for over 1 hour each. Here are my results/opinions: Sufix DNA was MUCH more limp for its lb rating than the Maxima. It handled much easier and felt 'slicker'. I think this is from a coating Sufix uses, but I am unsure. The tradeoff was that Maxima Perfexion seemed to be more abrasion resistant of the two, and it was easier to see (in full sun) than the yellow-green Sufix. No fish caught so I cant voice any imput there, but as far as using, I like Sufix. It seems to be a good line and is priced right (about 1/2 price of Maxima).

I bought my Sufix at Bi-Mart, but does any stores in the area carry it in bulk?? Anyone know?

thanks
Russ

Hey Russ, it was good seeing you at the Sportsman show.
You two newlyweds wondered off evendently when I got busy.

It's time to do the "rock" thing when you guys aren't busy.

Might try Trilene Big Game.
Extremely strong and good line handeling qualities.
It's about all I ever use anymore except on ocassion when I use Izorline.

Tested some 20# lines a couple years ago at the mini Sportsman show at Bob's and Maxima and Andy broke at 18#'s, Stren at 21#'s and Trilene Big Game at 28#'s consistently using the Trilene or Palomar knots.

Excellent line!

Dano,
Yeah it was real good to see you too!
You were quite the busy guy so didnt want to hang around and bother you too much

Yes Big Game is good strong line! That is what I have on my rockfish rods.....I think I bought some when you had mentioned it that first time we were fishing together. On my steelhead rods I like a little more supple line, and I dont think they carry anything less than 15lb in the 1/4lb spools at Bi-Mart

Make sure you post when you might come down for the 'rock thing' im sure many of us would like to meet up with ya!

Tried the Perfection and was not impressed. I didnt like the knotes and the way it handled. It seems to me that maxim and altra green are well known and respected but I'm not sure about perfection

I've used Perfexion quite a bit in the last two years. You have to tie a Rivers Inlet knot to make it hold. For some reason, other knots except for a palomar won't hold and break at the knot. Haven't used Sufix DNA but haven't had ANY problems with the perfexion.

Just tried Izorline for the first time- sweet! Maxima will soon be exiting my spools.
