Re: Ok weapon of choice for ifish predator hunt
I'm glad you're bringing a .204. I'm pretty curious about that cartridge and am anxious to see how it performs.
As for me, I'll bring my trusty 22-250, with a .222 for backup.

So I do not plan on saving the fur so I will be using my 20ga with buck shot for up close and personal and my 30-06 for the ones that stand off rp

I think you guys will need satelite tracking and possibly mortars with all you guys running around the same spot. Those coyotes will smarten up really quick!

Re: Ok weapon of choice for ifish predator hunt
Gee, I hope we don't get mistaken for a militia on a training mission, but then again, that might not be so bad either. Here's a couple of '07 predator hunt questions for the new comers.
Ok, how many shots were fired last year at coyotes and who (whom) did it????
True or False, people (besides us) were walking around in the calf deep snow for fun?
Who cooks mean catfish fish and chips? Loaded question!!!

I used to carry a 12ga with 4 buck along with a .222. Even thought about duct taping them together. Bought a 16x16x7mm German drilling instead.
(Best coyote hunting in Oregon ... my guess is anywhere near Hart Mt.)

For me, if I can make it, 30-06 loaded with 55 grain accelerator loads, topped with a 3-9x40 Bushnell 3200. I can't wait.

Re: Ok weapon of choice for ifish predator hunt
Ommedia (and ALL Ifish Predator Hunt Participants),
8" of snow is a drop in the bucket compared to what we experienced last year. Dogger and I spent 1/2 hour on my ATV's just trying to crush down the snow in camp so people could set up their outfits.
The temp was 12 or 13 * on Saturday morning and a few of the guys just weren't prepared for that kind of weather. I highly suggest that EVERYONE carefully prepare their gear for real cold, if that is in the forecast. It's great for the coyote hunting, but a real challenge for the unprepared.
I plan on creating a WEATHER POST that everyone should read BEFORE venturing out. I will have someone on the computer ready to send out a warning on Thursday evening and Friday AM if things look anything like last year. I will not tell anyone not to come! However, I will describe the conditions and each Ifish participant can then make up their own minds.
Let's hope none of this is necessay, but it pays to be prepared!

Re: Ok weapon of choice for ifish predator hunt

Re: Ok weapon of choice for ifish predator hunt
Yeah I am not going to go the snow camo rout I will just get under a bush or a tree and call it good. If there is still Snow on the ground for the trip I am going to look into getting a bail of straw to put down under my tent I am sure there will be some left over rp

Re: Ok weapon of choice for ifish predator hunt
I plan on bringing my Ruger M77 .243 and SBE with Dead Coyote loads.
I'm also planning on bringing a ton of firewood, a Honda generator , and a few Tuna Bombs! to share for the uninitaited.
Does anybody put straw under their tents? Need some? I have room for a bale.
C'mon guys! I want to hear the answers to Rank Amature's T/F questions - especially who makes killer fish 'n chips and the possible sightings of wolf tracks.

I think I would use this.......
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4ebtj1jR7c
A little on the high end cost at $125,000
And ammo might be hard to come by.......at least the ammo with the fins.

Re: Ok weapon of choice for ifish predator hunt
I may have to pass on this year, no one mist me last, I was only there for about a hour or too, was headed to work in Burns, this year I may be in the V.A hospital getting a hand job done on my left hand, so we well have to see, as the time is approching, and after that back to go in front of the board, if they put it off , I may get away to have some fun.
And if you want to have some fun, I well bring out my 30cal Browning as in BAR 30 rounds in 9 secounts, yes I have the ffl, and federal permits.
And it's a blast to shoot, just spendy.
