Default Hot water shower

I went to take a shower today and it seemed to be not very warm. Wife says she thought the same thing. At first I thought it might be the hot water heater, but the water in the sinks gets real hot.

Anyone have an Idea?

If that's a one-knob control, I vote for cloggage on the "hot" side - - pull the works out and rinse off the chunks. Oh shut the water off

that's just a guess now

Take off the showerhead and see if screen is inside. Might need cleaned.
check if tub has hot water. That would make it for sure it is the showerhead. Hope this kelps.

I had this same problem in our shower. Plumber told me it was build-up of metal flakes inside the pipes clogging things up. They now have new pipes made from a new material that don't do this - plastic I assume - and don't change the taste of the water. It costs millions to put in, of course. Just running the hot water line to this one shower was $2,000. Guess what home improvement I won't be making?

If your water heater is pretty old, you may have one with a defective dip tube that disintegrates, and as others have said, may have plugged up your valve or shower head.

I wound up flushing the entire water system in the house and replacing the water heater as a result....
