Default Aqua Pod boats

Do any of you guys have Aqua pods? Are they as stable as claimed? Do you use your dog out of it? I know they are located in Washington but trying to get an idea from someone that has used them before I commit to one.

Thanks

These aren't aquapods, but a similar boat. Yes, I hunt with a dog out of them. Should give you an idea of stability. Remember, though, these are not 'pods. If you want info on these, PM me. While not hunting pictures, you'll get the idea.

Are those th Four River lay out boats? I was planning on buying one of the 11 footers for next year. How much hp are you running on them, and how do they perform? Any issues with a large Lab behind you in the boat?

If you want stable it's hard to beat a 4 rivers boat. Take a look at the video on their site and you'll see. I bet ogrejager would let you take a ride in one on his pond, too.

Thanks
Yes, they are stable.
Yes, I hunt with my dog out it.
Yes, you can get together with me and paddle it yourself in the off season and decide for yourself.
Yes, the picture below is a 14yr old, his 15 yr old brother and my 85 pound lab Kodi.

Don't worry, I didn't let them hunt in it like that. It's just for the picture. I think last season(?)

I dont personaly own an Aqua-pod, but have spent alot of time in a few of them. I built my own semi-copy cat duck boat.

My budy has the 10 footer and my Dad has the 8 footer.

The 10 is by far a better boat. It doest weigh much more than the 8, but it tracks better, is more stable, and has much more room than just the 2 extra feet would seem to indicate.

The boats are plenty stable, and feel more and more stable as you add weight. They feel a bit tippy at first, but once you get used to the feel they are great.

The boats dont have good initial stabillity, but great secondary stabillity.

that is a 12ft aqua pod in tow and yes they are very stable, but the
4 rivers is the way to go and they cost alot less that the 12ft pod.....with the money you save you can pickup a kicker motor for your
4 rivers.

did dome one say 4 rivers??

Boy Headhunter, that sure is a montley crew there. Outlaws fer sure!

A couple advantages of the 4-Rivers......
Motor mount. Rated for 4hp I think...although I wouldn't hesitate to hang a Honda 5 on it.
Thick fiberglass, you can even stand up in them.
Wide sides that actually allow a dog to walk up the sides.
Flat profile that hides well. And a flat area in front of motor that the dogs like to sit on. Bow is flat for the dogs to walk/sit on.

Even if you don't hunt out of it they make excellent floating dog platforms and gear storage with rising water conditions.

And they tow great. I was impressed.
I think I could even catch a bass out of one.

Aquapod boats are great. my brother has an 8 ft and dad has a 10 ft. Very stable. Never tried a 4 rivers, but they look a little more suitable for larger waters. Price of the AP just went way up too.

The guys that make Aqua pod now have 3 different models to choose from that start around 799.00 and go way up they have a nice looking 12 ft model coming out for around 1200.00 It looks like it is easier to row the aqua pod plus no shipping charges pick it up instead of shipping out of MO.

You might like to chat with the guys at aqua pods they now make 3 differnt types of boats have not updated thier web site but they will be at the portland show. range from 799.00 to 1900.00. They have a new model 12 ft that is normally 1299.00 has a higher weight capacity then the 4 rivers by a hundred pounds weighs less by 30 pounds and is on sale at the show for 999.00. 4 rivers is going to run between 1300-1400 after shipping.

It looks like aqua pods priced them selves out of the market but are trying a different style boat to get back in the game.

4 rivers is based in Mo they do have a dealer here but he has to order so no savings in shipping I really wanted to know about aqua pods from people not the 4 rivers product it looks nice but is heavy and light load capacity plus the aqua pod looks to be more manuverable.

That is not entirely accurate. You will pay more in shipping than you're charged, otherwise what would the point be in having a local dealer?

I've got a ten foot pod and it works great. Very stable. Tracks and paddles well. I can even stand and shoot out of it when I'm in the boat alone. You can also layout as needed. A very versitile boat. My dog can also jump out without tipping it over. I can fit my blind bag, dog, shotgun, 3doz floaters, a spinner and 26 GHG fullbodies in mine with no problem (duck decoys). And could probably fit another dozen hot buys iun if I thought I needed them. If you are in the Vancouver area, PM me and you are welcome to try it out.
