Default Sloughs on the Willy

Fellas,

I need some help on the willy. I know most of you fish it frequent and know its structure well. I do not have a boat, but rather a u-boat float tube, and a pontoon boat. A couple fishermen told me to find some sloughs on the willy when it calms down and warms up. Any suggestions. The only one i think was told to me is Roberts Slough. Let me know your thoughts! thanks

Used to live in Salem 10-15 years ago. I seem to rember some sloughs just up river from the "west salem" bridge. I had an old 12ft. smokercraft that I would row around in there.

Thats about the only place I know of.

Try using Google Earth. You can follow the river and locate any sloughs that can be accessed by roads. That should give you lots of options. Good luck!!

The lower ramp in west linn has what you want. I take my kayak to the Island and walk the island premiter on the slog side and the river side.

do you mean clackamette/goat island?? i google earthed it and there looks like a slew right there as well where the two rivers come together. how is the fishing on the perimeter of that island? do you mostly LM SM it?

there is also cedar island that is shaped like a horse shoe that is north of that. looks promising

I think he means Rock Island sloughs, upstream from the West Linn ramp at the Tualatin River. It's almost all smallies in the Willamette, but you'll get an occasional largie by accident. The exception would be if you get back into some of the long sloughs that are like separate waterways (Lambert, Cunningham); they have more LMB (or so I've heard...)
