Lost.......pet fish.......please call
If anyone has seen our pet fish "Brutus", please call.
My wife and kids are so upset that Brutus didn't come home with us, they are besides themselves.
Brutus was last seen in front of the Tillamook Oyster House on 10-13-01.
After taking him for a 10-15min walk (swim) we tried to bring him into the boat. We knew he needed to be given a physical such as weight and length, and we wanted to see if he had been eating ok. As we brought him up to the boat, we put him in the net to bring him on board and to welcome him home. Well, not having seen him in so long, we didn't know that he had grown so much and it turns out he wouldn't fit in the 30"w x 36"h x 36"d net and my wife and I had trouble lifting him. Being in such a small net frightened him and he started flopping. Brutus flipped, spit then swam away. We called to him, we whistled to him but he wouldn't come back. Like with any other pet, we looked for him until dark with no luck.
My wife was so upset that Brutus didn't come home with us to meet the rest of the family that SHE suggested we stay and look for him on Sunday. After getting a motel room for Saturday night, we looked for Brutus all Sunday morning with no luck.
Brutus is about 4yrs old. He has silvery sides, spots on the upper and lower part of his tail and his upper and lower jaws are slightly hooked. He has a small toothache on the inside left of his lower jaw that needs to be looked at.
If you see him or having any information as to were he might be, please let us know.

Yeah, baby that's what I'm talking about!
Brutus will be searched for tomorrow by a pair of kings in a blue boat named 'Pilar'. Plugged herring or whole with RSKs. You missed it but right below the spots on either side it said 'Birthday fish'.
Thanks for the laugh.

If I knew he was your pet our family wouldnt have eaten him last night. (Parts of him) You know I think he filled the top shelf of the upright quite well.

Re: Lost.......pet fish.......please call
I wish Jenny would ban such insensitive posts like this. My wife reads the board, too, and she became quite agitated as she read the thread, thinking that you'd lost the family dog overboard. Only at the end was it clear that this was a poor attempt at humor and you were referring to a fish.
Now you have to understand that Flipper (my wife's nickname) is Chinese, and she was thinking that (if and only if) 'Brutus' was either a golden retriever or a black lab then he'd have made great soup for one of her relatives living out your way. (For those of you who don't know, in the winter soup made from a yellow or a black dog is better at keeping out the cold.)
In any event, at least I saved the price of a phone call from Flipper to Uncle Ah Fook on the shores of T-Bay!

I took one of my girlfiends friends fishing about 3 years ago and her pet fish was about a 6 pound trout. It's name was Brudet and it happily came home with us.

Re: Lost.......pet fish.......please call
Still haven't found Brutus yet? My heart goes out to you and your family. I know how tough it is to lose a pet. I am so moved by this that I will be taking leave from work next week to go search for him. If I don't find him, I hope he still has plenty of brothers and egg filled sisters out there like Fishhead5 found.

Re: Lost.......pet fish.......please call
I talked to his cousins (The Silver Family) and a few of his neighborhood chums. Not one had heard from him...I suspect he may be the father of some of these cousins. I investigated further and discovered they were tight lipped because they thought I might hurt him. I talked to them during school and convinced groups of 4 to come chat with me on the beach. These discussion gave me a line on where he was hiding and I kwikly hooked up with him to discuss his actions. He was is in a tough situation because he opened his mouth. Well this lead to a fight and he was hit in the head with a rock. It didn't look good for him so I quickly took him to the Dr. The Dr weighed and cleaned him up before a thorough checkup.
The checkup revealed a operation was required due to the concussion that had left him paralyzed. He was put on a table and split wide open. The Dr continued to cut on him looking at all his bones and removing excess tissue. They tried everything...even putting him in a incubator. While in the incubator he went from from moist to medium then firm. They did all they could for him and placed him in a body bag.
Some of his remains were spread in the ocean. The Shrimp and Crab families were invited to a private service. Redfaced with grief the Crab and Shrimp went straight to coctktails for relief.
Rest in Pieces Brutus

Re: Lost.......pet fish.......please call
OH, MY, GOD! Many thanks to all who've so creatively mad my life a bit lighter thru this thread.
Marty and Floater, you are SO creative!
In these times of World-Wide **** and probable Boeing lay-offs, I needed that!!!
Niki, too, says to tell all of you thanks for making her day better.
Floater, I'm SOOOO sorry for your loss.
I really must say, though, that I think Brutus is headed up-river like a Kamakaze thinkin' "don't care if I do die!" and laughing like h***.

Floater please don't bring flowers the family has requested Tillamook cheese and fish crackers be brought in honor of brutuss
The family also request you think of Brutus in his happier days Not like this...
PS.. canned sardines would be in bad taste anytime. Dress will be fishing casual with Chest waders and vests optional.
