Whos got a Parker?
I got the chance to really check out some Parkers at the Seattle boat show. I really like the 2320 SL. The Parkers are pure fishing boats. About the only thing you can't just hose down is the area behind the dash. Other than that,it looks like they'd be really easy to keep up.
I'm thinking a Parker just might be my next boat.

Re: Whos got a Parker?
They are very nice boats.
Barnes bought one last year. I had it at my shop for a few day's while I built a radar and electronics platform. Very nice and very solid. his I believe was a 25 and had a lot of deck for fishing. I hope he gives you his view as he has had it for a season and should know the boat very well by now.

Re: Whos got a Parker?
bud of mine had the 23.5 w short pilothouse and a 225 suzi 2-stroke. Would barely plane. He had to go w custom solid hub prop to keep from spinning a prop every season. heavy and WELL built boat. get BIG power to push the larger models. Also, weigh the boat rigged and fueled b4 selecting the trailer and get a trailer w margin..U can ask my bud how he knows this....dealers have no clue what stuff REALLY weighs..

Re: Whos got a Parker?
I was fortunate enough to fish a couple of times on Barnes's Parker this last season.
Very nice ride.:valentine:
He put twin 115's on it it flies.
We carried 4 164qt coolers on the middle of the deck one trip that worked quite well (we plugged the boat with over 40 TUNA! that trip) and still had plenty of fishing room AND it still hauled tail.
Lots of deck space, storage and very nice fit and finish.
Just make sure you go overkill on the trailer.

Parker was on the short list of potential boats for me. I did a lot of research, and can say that everyone agreed; the 250 was minimum power for the 2320. Anyone who had a 200 or a 225 wished they went bigger.
I liked the boat too. Built like a tank, heavy, HUGE cockpit for fishing..
Only main downside I saw was the side height of barely above the knee in the cockpit and the Small Pilothouse. Not much room in there for 4 guys. Seating was tight for 3, and passangers would be sitting sideways..
I water tested one a month or so ago, on Puget Sound, and overall I liked it. I just wish the sides were about 3-4" taller. I'm used to the secure feeling a deeper boat gives you.

Re: Whos got a Parker?
Parkers-Several folks down here in Baja Oregon-(nor-cal)have them. Volpinus on this site has one as well. The new 28 with twin 250s is a super boat. The 2520 really needs twin 150s. Go big with the power. Post the power question on the hull truth for lots of results. Mark

Re: Whos got a Parker?
I have the 2510 XLD walkaround. I would have gotten a pilot house (i.e. 2520 or 2320) if I were planning to use it in Oregon full time, but I have other plans for mine (a warm climate where removing the windows will be a necessity).
I have twin 150 yammie 4 strokes, I wouldn't go any less. I've heard a single 250 does okay, there's a website devote to Parker that has all sorts of good info including performance charts for all the various models.
The deck space on the 2510 (and same for 2520) really sealed the deal for me.
Parker was excellent with questions and gave me a direct email link to one of their engineers, which was critical help in rigging the boat.
Let me know if you have any questions or want to get a look at mine while it's still here (Beaverton area).
I second the trailer comment, they gave me an 8500lb trailer and we blew out a tire and sheered off the wheel hub coming back from Tillamook. The dealer promptly replaced it with a 10000lb trailer, which is what a 25' model needs at a full load of fuel and rigging/gear. Of course, then Oregon wants you to have a 'truck' registration to haul it...
I have had a few boats (both glass and aluminum), Parkers are built solid. We drilled through an inch of solid glass to drill out for the transducers.
Cheers

Re: Whos got a Parker?
Have fished on the 2520 great ride....twin 150's like onokai said!!!--28'would be better...they only come with yamis---cant buy the hull and put on what you want...my friend had a problem with trailer also...under weight for the boat..tire and hub problems..yamaha,just replaced one of the 150's after several breakdowns in mexico and nor/cal...

Re: Whos got a Parker?
..the low side ht also makes the soft bolsters from the factory a really nice option.

The biggest question I had was the low side height. The salesman said alot of people question the height,so they installed toe kicks. I tried stuffing my size 11s under the toe kick, and with tennis shoes they hardly fit. If I was wearing any kind of boot, they wouldn't have fit.
It sounds like a 250 isn't optimal for power. Yamaha doesn't have anything more in a 4 stroke until their 350. They do have a 300 V-max though. I think the V-max is geared more for bass boats and such.
Twins aren't an option on the 2320,so you couldn't do F150s.

A Parker won't fit in your garage like your North River does! I looked at the Parkers today at the boat show, nice rides.

Re: Whos got a Parker?
Who is the dealer at the show, I did'nt there was one around here (west coast) Ore. or Wa.. As far as the low sides from having a wash through deck, I remedied that by installing an aluminum railing on the rear and sides. It's about 12" in height and provides a great mount for Rod holders. Totally makes a way safer feel to the boat. It also did'nt affect the ability to gaff or net fish. Would have done stainless to match the bow rail but way less $$$ and easier to work with.

Re: Whos got a Parker?
The max hp the 2320 is rated for is 250. The factory wont put anything larger on it. With the F250 it will do 48 mph with 2 people and a full fuel tank. Its more than enough for ocean speeds. My comments after 10 months of ownership:
negative:
-non skid floor can be a bear to clean, shoe scuffs etc
-anchor locker drains to the bilge
-could use bigger tabs
positive:
-open cabin, ie no bulked btw the sleeper area and seating area
-no in floor fish boxes below the water line
-excellent access to the bow, wide area to walk around the cabin
-factory wiring is top notch, 100% tinned wire, very neatly installed with quality components
-command link gauges
-F250 - quiet, efficient, 3 mpg at cruise, can troll slow enough for salmon if needed.

I was reading at a Parker forum last night. Adding larger trim tabs was a very common question. It looks like Parker needs something bigger from the factory.

Re: Whos got a Parker?
Parkers are very popular down in San Diego. I've been told (but never ridden in one) that they are great in a head sea but don't ride as well going downhill. Since most guys fish south out of S.D. and come home uphill, many times into the wind, it's why they are so popular.

Re: Whos got a Parker?
I have a 2120 and it kicks butt... up and down hill. If you learn to trim the motor and use your tabs the ride downhill is hard to beat. I love the boat. And, the non-skid decks clean up super easy with 100% bleach.

On the low side issue, consider putting in a stainless rail all the way around..
Have you looked at a Seasport?

Re: Whos got a Parker?
My uncle has a 25' Pilothouse which he purchased in 98 or 99, for 40k with a 250 Yami brand new, this was when the company was first starting up. He guides out of Long Island, NY
Ive also fished on a new 23' Pilothouse tricked out with a tower out of San diego, it sported a 250 Yami as well, super boat! It has to be the best 23 footer ive ever been on. It is a expensive boat, 85k fully loaded.
Booja the 24' Seasport is 130k fully loaded. Such a big price difference vs the 23' Parker.

Re: Whos got a Parker?
You won't be dissapointed with a Parker if you fish. I reccomend the 2520 with twin 150's (yammy 4 strokes). My brother owns one and I've fished it alot, with the twins it is a safe and seaworthy offshore fisher.

D, not if you go with the Charter Series. Not all the frills like the standard XL, seating for four, lotsa inside storage, huge insulated fish holds in the floor and available with twins.

Re: Whos got a Parker?
Well if you are going to toss out other options I'd say look hard at a Davis. Especially if your typical run home is downhill or quartering. They aren't cheap either and probably more than a Parker. Built like a tank and really made for fisherman. 3 large insulated holds to boot.

Re: Whos got a Parker?
You might look at StiegerCraft.Have you checked out the Open Ocean Cat? Any Pilot house type boat with helm forward will pound a little more.Best to do a sea trial.I almost bought the 2820 with twin Yamaha 250.After I rode in the Open Ocean .I changed my mine.Cats are not for everyone though. There is a 2520 in Newport.I have tried several times to get a ride from the guy with no luck. There is a Stieger Dealer in chinook you might check them out .He does have a couple in stock.Good luck Parker had some different dead rise hull so if you buy used make sure you get the Deep V.

Re: Whos got a Parker?
Just wanted to bump this thread to let everyone know that Aman Marine is now a Parker dealer.
We are scheduled to visit the plant again in a couple weeks and intend to get our inventory ordered at that time. Shipping costs are an issue coming that far so in effort to make it more affordable for each boat we need to get 2 boats per trailer. If you've seen these boats and they have been on your short list, now might be a good time!

Re: Whos got a Parker?
Congratulations Rod on getting the Parker line, Im impressed with Barnes Parker 2510 craftmanship and fishing ability. As you are aware Ive become very close to the Parker called Hardcore by spending many late nights in my front of my shop with it. It has been a good education for Barnes and I installing all the goodies on his boat. We have a few hull core samples if anyone would like to take a look at one and Wet Fly has the radar mount dialed as far as a custom build. It would be a tough decision to pick between Parker, Glacier Bay and Striper for a new purchase, if I ever give up my Striper Diesel.

Re: Whos got a Parker?
I want one NOW! I just came from a drool session on the Parker site! I still have not decided but several Parkers are on my short list! Unfortunately Rod will have to wait for a couple of years yet (or is that I will have to wait?) I think the hard part is to select the Parker you want and can afford! The 2510, 2520XLD, the 2310, and the 2320 all have their attractions for me Then you have to decide what options, power, goodies, and fishing equipment to buy and mount...the worst part is having to explain to the wife why we are drilling holes in her new boat! lol
Glad Aman got the franchise, means I may get to buy through Rod, and that is a true pleasure!

Re: Whos got a Parker?
Rod, I think you will be very happy with the Parker line of boats. Nice to know there is a dealer in Oregon and fishermen will not have to go out of state to buy a boat or have warranty work done..
When you are at the factory would you be so kind to pick up a small part for me. I need to pick up one butt end rod holder for the CC. Stepped on the old one and made it a two piece. Could be very expensive shipping costs.
