What is a salty dog

anyone who has an interest in fishing the bays and oceans. must be willing to support the group and your fellow Ifishers on sea or land and have a good story to tell as an introduction of yourself to the rest of us.

Oh yeah and you have to send me $20 a month in membership dues!

What is a Salty Dog? Being a Salty Dog is a state of mind, much like being an Oregon Duck or Beaver fan.

No dues, fees or taxes. Dogs come in all sizes, shapes, and colors. They are great people to have as friends even if they don't smell so good sometime.

They have one thing in common they share with eachother!

Well I`m not too far off.Been fishing the salt about 40 years now.So I`m getting a good start on the learnning curve.I hold my own on the sams,but the alibs are new to me up here landed sevral over 50# in Mexico so I`m ready to give it try up here this year.I`m pertty low tech but I learn fast if showed .I dont hear well have big aids in both ears and I read lips pertty well.And I talk up a storm.I only suround my self with positive ,respectful people lifes to short to hang with nuckel heads.

Compassion??? Oh yeah, lots of compassion LOL.

It is a different group of fisherman One Eye, we do tend to share more information than other areas I've fished, especially when it comes to TUNA! fishing. Lots of updates on the water, what's working, where the temp break is, sighting of jumpers, rough water/bar reports and of course where the fish are. And of naturally if someone misses a gaff, or gets spooled, lots of compassion....

I`m ready sitting here with this new boat and havnt put it in the water yet.It`s killing me Jeff at Gillie helped ty up acouple hand lines and set up some rod lines but didnt get out last yearthis year will be the one.I`t nice to fish with guys that don`t have lock jaw.

TA meeting = TUNAholics Anonymous - Our salty DOg brand of the twelve steps INTO TUNA! addiction. they are open door social events called at random and announced here on the forum.

Welcome aboard and dont forget to tell us a story, preferably one that tells us a little about you and is fairly embarassing. :grin:
