Default Anyone ever re-gelcoat their glass DB?

I just purchased a glass DB. The original exterior color was green.
The idiot I got it from painted it a camp patern.
I would like to have the exterior color to be either green or red.
Can a person spray a new gel-coat similar to painting a car with a spray gun???

do an internet search of some boat sites. Yes you can spray gelcoat. I haven't done it though.

It has been a few years but a friend and I re-gelcoated his 18' boat. As I recall he purchased a special hand sprayer(cheap sprayer run off of the air compressor in his shop) with a large orifice and after getting used to it, I think we did a great job. Only way to go. It wasn't that difficult or expensive either.

I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. I've even thought about buying the old junker boat for next to nothing and fixing it up. Patch it up and apply new gelcoat and it looks brand new.

You can probably get details at any marine store, but if not email me and I will attempt to unfog my fading memory.

You might look up the Clackacraft website and send them an e-mail inquiry. They are very customer service oriented and will help you. Marty Sherman is their Director of Marketing, and he (or others) will give you the info you need. Also, Don Wenzel from Albany Steelheaders adds gelcoat to his boat bottom every year, and he would know.
