Re: Favorite Driftboat Goodies
A friend of mine has an electric trolling motor, get one that is at least 75lb of thrust. These are fantastic if you like to pull plugs or side drift, worth every penny.

My 45lb cylinder anchor with 2" "claws" on one end. Drop it down and bam you aren't sliding down.

Re: Favorite Driftboat Goodies
If you like those rubber cannonball sinker holders, Home Depot sells floor mats that are the identical stuff for like $7. Go to the rug section and they have small doorstep sized ones that you can cut to your own desired size. They also have big mats too but the small ones work slick for making holder mats.

Re: Favorite Driftboat Goodies
flip top aluminum egg boxes and aluminum sectioned trays mounted in front and back to hold slinky shot for side drifting. I'm big on having stuff organized.

Front level decking!
We always have about 3 or 4 towels to start each day out too. You never have enough of them

Re: Favorite Driftboat Goodies
I rarely head down river without my Garmin fish/depth finder on. I'm not looking for fish, just the depth. I'll get home from a trip and mark what I find on a map for the next trip. This is very handy if you don't get out a bunch. Next trip down you're a little more dialed in to that stretch of river. Maybe even catch a fish.
Right Danno?
How'd you do last Thursday?.

Re: Favorite Driftboat Goodies
OOOOHHHH!!! I love this thread! An audience! I bore my wife to tears with my "technical innovations"!! Here goes:
http://www.ifish.net/uploads/14281044.jpg
This is my leader dispenser, cost me about $2 to make, works like the ones they charge $60 for. No loose spools of line!
http://www.ifish.net/uploads/40271044.jpg
My little 4hp merc. This baby is sweet, always starts in 3 pulls, trolls for hours on the enclosed 3/4 gallon tank.
http://www.ifish.net/uploads/44241044.jpg
Holster for my fishin buddy. Keep it safe and out of the way while "running".
http://www.ifish.net/uploads/11241044.jpg
My Bimart boat trailer. Whinch set up is 4X4 cedar, nice light rugged trailer for small boat.
http://www.ifish.net/uploads/19221044.jpg
http://www.ifish.net/uploads/21231044.jpg
This is my favorite. My anchor bracket, didn't want a permanently attached alum bracket, so built this out of scrap marine ply and 2" ash. it comes off for travel or to mount the kicker.
As you all can see I am a frustrated boat designer/carpenter.

Re: Favorite Driftboat Goodies
stevo, great gads/ so much inovation! You and I have very simalar fishing vessels but as I can see yours is equiped with so many great gadgets. I've been wanting to be able to get a 4 horse for mine but always wondered if it would be to heavy for my wood transom. Guess not. But I've got the straight through the back of transom anchor/rope set up, no arm anchor mount. Your portable set up looks cool and so functionable. My minn kota can be mounted off to the side of my anchor set up, do you think a 4 horse be able to be set up likewise or does the screw downs take up most of your tranosm area? How long a shaft on your motor do you need for your boat? So with your trolling motor on, no need to have an anchor on? Guess not. You either are a drifter or a troller? Any chance you could give me a ball park figure on what a good used trolling motor costs. Either two stroke or 4 stroke? In another life I coming back as having some carpenter skills however limited. Great work and thanks for sharing your photos and ideas! Again looking at your photos for tenth time-is your boat ribless? mine is not

A R.V. level stuck up front so both front seaters can see it. It keeps the guy on the sticks happy.
