Default Scent Shelf Life

Noticed Jen's plug for Marie's fish scent and wondered how long scents last after taken on the river but kept refrigerated and in some cases in the freezer. I recall a post from RT on this subject a while back - that's why I now put my scents in the fridge - but would like others opinion too.

Had some shrimp scent from Marie that I bought last October and did well with that I've kept in the fridge. Pulled it out last weekend for some bobber fishing on the Siletz and lets just say I had a fishing buddy who was with me buying some on his way home that afternoon.......
Just keep it in the fridge..

Sandi and many others,

Keep my shrimp scents in the fridg when not in use.

Its a fish food product and that means it will spoil if left out in the boat for lengthy spells.

Just keep it cold or freeze it when you're not fishing.

Keeping it cold preserves it and will keep the flavor in.

When you see other scent products on the open shelf, realize those contain man made chemicals that have tons of preservatives in them.

Marie's Scents are a fish food product with a tiny amout of preservative in it. Therefore making it more apealing to fish out there.

Any more questions?

I had left some in my tackle box and it oozed out into tray then set up like super glue. What will dissolve it? I have tried soaps, chlorox cleaner and ammonia. I need to learn to keep it upright and put in the bait fridge when not in use! Thanks

I would try rubbing alocohol first then finger nail polish remover. What is dried down may be very oily and water based cleaners may not work. If the above did not work you could try brake cleaner. Just becareful with plastic. The brake cleaner and the acetone in the finger nail polish remover can dissolve some plastics.
