Hey, Os, bring it to Floatilla III and lend it to RT!

We hear he can identify with "Blems"

fishbait:

Your obvious lack of fish rod identification skills are alarming. Anyone with a half ounce of knowledge knows that it is from their 7 1/2 foot brown one-piece line. I think they called it a "Trigger Stick", if I rememer correctly.

They were good rods unless you got one of their notorious factory blems, which wouldn't be good enough to smack your mother-in-law in the hiney with.

I assume it's a plug rod of some sort ....Os

That could mean a lot of different things, I suppose.

The "Trigger" part of that indicates it's a kids trout rod that can also be used as a toy gun. Fenwick has gotten a lot of marketing mileage out of that concept. Do you have a camo helmut and coat to go along with it? ... Where did you aquire it Os? ToysRus? Walsmart? jk

Actually, it's likely a multi-purpose rod made from their Fenglass line. At a relatively short length and having a fast action quick taper as you describe it should work very well as a plug rod. You didn't say what line rating it had. Geeez, I hope you looked - and that it's not like 4 lb. to 8 lb. line rated. A couple decades ago I bought a Fenwick Fenglass 7'9" spinning rod to use for small creek steelhead float fishing and driftfishing, and also used it for plugging from driftboats on occassion. The are pretty good rods. I still have that rod, in good condition. Back in the 70's Fenwicks were "the" rod to have. I think they were the first to come out with graphite rods. I remember getting my first one, the 8'3" FS83s rated 8 to 15 lb. I caught hundreds of steelhead and chinooks on that rod until it finally went kaput in the 80's. Before the graphite era, the Fenwick glass rods ruled.

Os,
Isn't it nice to have such helpful and caring friends?

Any personal problems you might care to share with the group?

Oh God, don't listen to these guys Os. I know the rod (especially since I had it). I used that rod for trolling for trout in lakes and also for a small plug rod. Been a lifelong fenwick guy and still have quite a few (ask Os, he's seen them all). Usually alot of times blems where simply the diameter of the fiberglass didn't match the required diameter of a certain series. I bought this years ago and have yet to have a problem with it (even on steelhead). The triggerstick is the first year they produced a trigger on their baitcasters (before the fuji reelseats were used and graphite where in use like they are now). Os, you should bring it so the guys can use it. It's a one of a kind rod. The trigger is actually made of metal soddered onto the reel seat. It's a nice rod, I just never used it. I have a few 85c's, 88c's, and 89c's (not including my fenwick glass fly rods) and am streamlining out my non used fens. I'd really watch this rod on bigger salmon though. It has backbone, but not enough to bring a big king on (well I never tried anyways).

Never was a line rating on it. I always ran 12# test on it with an older Daiwa Baitcaster I have. Never failed me.

About the same thing I did when I bought a simular Lamaglass product this year that was a factory blem. JUNK!!! I had 9 1/2 footer and got a big chinook on it. It snapped even as line was being pulled off by the fish. Hope you have better luck than I Osp. Let me know how it works out when you hook up a biggin.

Os,
what you have is a Fenwick Fiberglass fishing rod.

Anything else I can help with?
