travis Outlaw's OT winning shot!
yep, he's the hero again. Take the last shot for the team with .9 seconds left.
Long jump shot, nothing but net! A nice OT road win for our boys!

It was a great shot! I'm glad coach Nate had the confidence in Travis to let him take the last shot.

Re: travis Outlaw's OT winning shot!
Again...a great and fun game to watch. Do you guys remember a couple of years ago...their first games? I would LOVE to watch one of those again because I think the difference between then and now would be astounding. First of all, Travis acted embarrassed to even be out on the court...he was soooo shy. Coach Nate and his coaching staff have done wonders with those kids.

Errrr.... Dude,
I DVR'd the game. Carefully avoided leaving radio stations tuned to sports stations, even managed to avoid the TVs at the club when I was there for lunch.
All so I could watch like you did "live" after I got home from the office.
Guess it wasn't meant to be a surprise.
I just thought the Blazer thread would hold...
Great game, great ending. Probably even better if one didn't already know it.
People might think about avoiding disclosing endings of events and series in their headlines.

I listen to the game plunking on the river but watched it last night. I second your most improved for Outlow but MVP will only go to Roy if we go deep into the playoff. Which is an outcry because he means to much to the success of our team.

I DVR'd it too...watched first half last night..second half this morning...AND...the recording STOPPED at the beginning of the OT cause I didn't think to add extra time for OT...Geeeezzzz...I already knew the outcome but was anxious to watch Air Outlaw's winning basket. (I don't cry easily but that almost did it!!!)

Yeah, I got burned by that one in an earlier game. Now I just set the DVR to record the post game and even the next event (Double OTs can even mess up the 1/2 hour grace!), then just delete whatever isn't necessary.

And it's nice to see all of the team accepting a foul when a foul is called rather than the whiners, T, and rants of the past. A fun team to watch again. Started to come together when he got rid of Nitwhitt, or whatever his name was. Rip City is Back.

Yes you did! And my wife wouldn't dare do that! Well, she did have the news on when I walked in the door to Ed Whalen, but I dove for the power button on the remote.
No, it was when I checked the computer as I tuned in the DVR that I saw the headline. Oooooohhhhhh...
I forgive you though.
But if you do it again I'll tell a story about you!

Hate to spoil it for anybody but tomorrow night Aldridge dunks with 2.1 left and is fouled. Makes the free throw and the Blazers win by one.

Portland in first place is so cool. I was just in Seattle for the weekend and they are so bummed because of the Sonics.

Re: travis Outlaw's OT winning shot!
I remember the draft last year when we picked up Odem or Odom...whichever. There was so much controversy regarding whether we should have picked up Durant. Durant is very good however, as it turns out, our Blazers can do it without either one. I'm really anxious to see how Odom fits and what he will add as Center. With his size and the Blazers' coaches , its gotta be nothing but good... This team could be one of those historically "unstoppable" ones, ya think? Like the Bulls/Lakers/Celtics USED to be?

It's Oden. You are right, they are playing great without either of them. But once Oden gets healthy we'll have two good shot blockers to clog the middle. Once Joel goes out, we give up muscle in the middle. That won't be the case when Oden is healthy.

Oden and Aldridge in the middle. Scary. I would compare that to The pair of Robinson/Duncan. Only oden will be more of a beast than duncan.

Re: travis Outlaw's OT winning shot!
Settle down, boys and girls...
I am a Blazermaniac (too). But pro basketball is a fickle game. A key injury to a top player can change things quickly. Certainly the depth of the Blazers works in their favor, as does their youth, but if one of the top 3 go down, well, things get tougher.
And as far as Oden, keep in mind he will be a rookie next year. There will be a learning curve even if he stays healthy. Do not expect a 70 win season next year, especially coming off micro-fracture.
Finally, in two years the Blazers will have both flexibility from coming under the salary cap and decisions to make with expiring contracts and free agents. The chemistry is amazing right now, but that can be fickle as well. They will need to get better. Can you imagine them with Chris Paul!? But at the same time, Jack, Blake, Ridriguez (or Fernadez) will have to go for someone like that to come aboard. The guys so willing to share minutes may be replaced with others that aren't as willing.
All of that being written, as good as Boston is this year, they are only one knee or ankle away from being a mid-level team. Ray Allen didn't play one game and they lost at home. That is a big difference the Blazers enjoy, and it has been really fun and good basketball to watch with all their depth, determination and soooo much better ball movement on offense and positioning on defense. They are a very good team!

Didn't Alridge go down for 5-7 games and that was at the beginning of their long winning streak?
I completely agree, that an injury can hurt any team. I had to give a little jab though.

5 or 7 games while playing at home against teams with less than stellar records is one thing. 25 games and gimpy upon return with half against winning teams and half on the road would be something else.
Jab taken though. They have demonstrated they can take short term injuries and suck it up.
Many wouldn't know or may not remember, but the last time the Blazers had a truly young team with a rookie big man in the mix it was the Championship team. The team that year started OK, not great (they were terrible before Walton arrived), but slowly jelled as the season went on.
Could lightning strike twice?
The team played incredibly well the next season. Not only were they 50-10, but the way they won was really impressive. They just dominated teams from start to finish, and looked like a well oiled machine. Then Walton went down, then the next day their other (good) big man at center, Lloyd Neal went down and the run was over.
Let's hope that lightning doesn't!

Yes..I agree and although I hate the thought, it has crossed my mind that someone could get injured. AND...I have watched some of the other teams who undoubtedly don't have faith in their being able to win on their own talent...try to hurt our guys...i.e. Blake is case in point. I still don't think that was an accident.
Now..Boston? I heard one of the half time (national)commentors say that Boston is "it" this year but not deep enough to sustain the top in future years. I was gonna say that they don't have a good bench like the Blazers...however, I don't think the Spurs or Phoenix does either and they have done well for a long time with just their top 3-4. And..shoot...why does the Blazers HAVE to trade anyone. But, again, I agree...we'll just have to see how things play out over the next couple of years. They have youth on their side at this point in time.

The accurate amount of games Aldridge was out was 5 (I was guessing earlier) and 2 were on the road. The 5 teams... @Utah, G.S., Utah, @Denver, N.O. All teams with decent records. Yes, it was a short term injury and things can fall apart in the blink of an eye...the season is long.

Ya gotta let us know when you've watched the game. We had unexpected company and didn't have time to set the DVR so I need IFish replay.
I still wish I had access to a video of one of their first games back with Zack/Patterson. If memory serves me correctly, they just kinda stood out on the court and turned in circles. Didn't pass the ball, held it when they did pass cause they didn't know what to do with it. Wouldn't it be fun to watch and see firsthand all the changes?

Re: travis Outlaw's OT winning shot!
Sorry. I was late getting home from a City Council meeting and watched the speed version which just finished.
I just didn't want anyone to spoil things with a new thread starter. Anything in here would have been fine, because I wasn't going to open it.
Anyway, they looked like they were at the end of a 7 game road trip. Still scrappy on defense, but they shot bricks and could not even come close to getting a rebound. New Orleans played very well. There is a reason they have the best record in the west now.
Yes the Blazers lost. But they did beat NO 3 out of 4 times this year, and the Hornets had won their last couple at home by an average of 28. So the boyz hung bretter than most, but lost.
Greg Oden sat with the Mikes for quite awhile in the second quarter and gave some interesting insights, too. I particularly liked when Rice said he would have to start running in July or August and Greg was like, "Oh yeah. I have to lose some weight by then. I looked at that film (they had just shown some summer highlights) and man I looked different then. I am about 1/2 a hot dog from busting out of this shirt!"

I heard that Oden was beefing up and that it was a concern to the coaching staff...in fact, several months ago, they told his trainer to "knock it off"..lol Too much weight on that knee might not be good. In addition, they were concerned that it could affect his athleticism in the long run.
Thanks for the game particulars...I saw the end of the 4th and too large a point spread for the typical Blazer comeback. Oh well, they will be home and we'll be cheering them on at the Rose on Friday.

Re: travis Outlaw's OT winning shot!
I was wrong. They split with NO 2 -2 for the regular season.
Oden does not look fat. He looks huge! But he does need to get lighter before running on that rebuilt knee.
One thing that bodes well for the Blazers is that they are the number 1 team in the NBA at having to come from behind at halftime and the start of the 4th quarter and coming away with a win.
They do not give up!

Re: travis Outlaw's OT winning shot!
did anyone see how much weight Miles put on. wow!
I still hope he is a non-factor. He's the last of the bad apples as far as I'm concerned. He can worm the bench for the good ones.

Re: travis Outlaw's OT winning shot!
Pritchard is too smart to add a bruised fruit to the basket. There is no way Miles will work his way into the rotation unless there is a major streak of injuries and the season is pretty well lost. Otherwise they will keep him on the shelf.
Steve Patterson? He would have insisted Miles would fit.
