Talking Credit Card Machines

My wifes buisness seems to be doing pretty good but when she accepts credit cards she has to run them through the parent company. She is a "consultant" and does sales. When she does this she gets credit for more product to buy and sell. If she had her own credit card machine she would get that money minus the fees we know. She travels to other peoples houses and places to do her "parties" so a mobile credit card machine is the need. Does anybody have one or researched them and found a good deal? We have looked but there are so many it gets confusing. Thanks in advance

If she has a bank account set up for her business you can probably go through your bank and tie it directly to your own account. I know my bank offers this service.

I checked with many companies including costco and ended up going with a company called merchant services. I have used them for about two years now. They have different rates depending on how often and how high the transactions are. Pm me if you would like a number

I thought about getting a credit card machine for my business. I went to Costco, Quick Books and my local bank to get information. Be very careful. The hidden fee's will eat you alive. Ask them to print you out the entire contract. It will be anywhere from 6 pages to 28 pages. I'm thinking about seeing a Lawyer or someone who specializes in this field. The wrong choice could cost you more money than you would believe.

I was in small local business the other day and there was a gentleman there trying to sell his credit card service to the business. I mentioned my interest in wanting to get a portable machine. We went next door to a restaurant and talked for about 15 minutes. He gave me his speech then tried to get me to sign the single page contract. After reading the fine print I saw that it referred to a agreement of terms and conditions that he couldn't produce at the table. He assured me that it was nothing more than we had discussed in our short meeting and that the fees were the same as well. I asked him to fax me the agreement and I would take a look at it. He faxed the same page we looked at in the restaurant. Not the agreement as promised. I took the time to type in the business name on the web and guess what. RIP OFF.COM I believe was the web site that came up and there were 26 or so other business that were quite upset. The name of the credit card company was MPI. Merchant Processing INC. out of Beaverton. Buyer Beware. Always, always ask for the whole contract and READ THE FINE PRINT. I know I was amazed at the amount of legal terms I'm not familiar with. Good Luck...

First, you don't want to rent a machine. Purchase one without signing any contract. Try to get a merchant service rep that is tied to first data as they can beat anybody else. Also you can go month to month without signing for a year lease. The first data rep can bring you up to date on the type of machine that will fit your need. Then go on line and google the machine till you find one that you can buy outright without signing up for their services. I can refer you to someone, just call me at 503-297-4923
