Yes, ocean crab is open, it opened Dec 1.

Yes, Tuesday is the day. But it will be COLD! (don't see a shivering smilie!)
Forecast has below freezing temps on the coast tues morning, in the high 20's early. The wind will have an easterly component that will help lay down the ocean, lbut it also means a cold wind off the coast range and the interior of the state.

Silverfish will be going out of YB.

COLD - SCHMOLD!!!

Only trick is getting the boat over to the coast without putting her in the ditch on slippy roads. If I can get over the hill I will be there.

Crabbing any good this year?

25deg is childs play....

I coached skiing for 6 years three of which were in Minneapolis - at night! After night coaching I went to Fed Ex to work the late shift on the airport ramp loading aircraft. There was nothing to stop the wind but your face and the landing gear of a DC10. Every night was zero to -20 windchill - cold nights were negative 30 with 10-15mph winds

25degrees was a spring day in March - we worn shorts because it was so damn hot!

25degrees.....humph

no pots tomorrow - I will probebly regrett it but it will my daughter and I only.

Yaquina bar currently shows no restrictions with 1-2 in the hole and 3-4ft swells all others areas. That wind clocks from the NE to E, it will be a floater close to shore and perfect bottom fishing conditions.

WetSand.com Tues forcast:
3-4ft at 13-14secs with NE wind 14-16mph.

I wouldn't want to venture far off shore but where I am headed it should be flat as pancake with sweet drifts. Will report.

Yesterday (Monday) it was very windy from the east and way, way cold. The bar was open to all at around 10am with 1-3ft swell at the tips and 2-4 elsewhere if I remember. I didn't need to go out of the bay yesterday so I can't give a firsthand.

Calvin
When you go in your fiberglass boat at least you won't stick to side like I would in my aluminium one.

Freezing weather and wet clothes equal trouble on my boat.

You bet I am going!

Getting a slow start to allow this afternoon's forecasted reduced winds to come in to play...that and my daughter is not up yet.

Been my experience best not cut into a 9-year old girls sleep for fishing on cold, possibly sporty ocean, lest I want to ensure she will never want to join me in the future. Boat is loaded, fueled, & hitched to truck and I am about wonder out to warm up the diesel....that we get her to wake up.

As to ice and fiberglass; I can tell you the glass sure feels a whole lot warmer in the winter, and whole lot cooler on those hot summer days on the river, than the previous Alum sled.

Like butter, they way the ice falls of the Grady....

Report:

Flat-Flat-Flat with near zero wind. Felt like about 45-47Deg outside temp with the sun beating down us. Maybe 2ft @ 12-13sec

Started north of Gov't Point for 13-14 nice sea-bass and perhaps 4-5 of our orange friends. All released as we were only harvesting Lings today. Ran further north to just north of the Siletz and pic'd up two nice lings, 33 and 35in in length.

Just about as perfect day as any you might expect in June or July.
