Hillsboro area.
So I finally found a place in hillsboro to rent. Question i have is i am moving to 37th off main and shutte rd. I have heard ups and downs of the hillsboro area. From point of people that live there how is the area. is it safe to raise a child in and not have to worry about to much. Opinion please thank you. Landlords have owned the house since built and they say its a great area which i am not doubting just want some other insights.

Re: Hillsboro area.
I lived over on Birchaire Lane by Hare Field around twenty years ago and Hillsboro was a nice town then.

Re: Hillsboro area.
This is a tough one to answer. We just bought a house in Hillsboro, off of Evergreen and Glencoe. We like it where we are, we looked at some homes in the area you're interested in, and didn't have the same comfort level that we have where we ended up. Looks like the High School is Liberty, and the Middle School is Poynter?

Re: Hillsboro area.
I now live on Birchaire lane, and have lived here all my life. Hillsboro is still okay, and 37th area is fine. The days of not locking your doors is gone but you should like Hillsboro.

Re: Hillsboro area.
I live right near brookwood elementary and have been here more than five years, no problems, the area you are talking about is still a good area. I would live anywhere in hillsboro before i would live on the other side of the river .

Re: Hillsboro area.
Funny, I almost rented a place in Hillsboro yesterday, but we ended up getting a place in Beaverton that was just a bit bigger instead. Seemed like there are a lot of places just a couple blocks off the main streets that seem like safe places. Honestly, if your neighbors don't have trash all over the place or cars up on blocks, it's probably a good sign.
I stopped at Reos Ribs too on my drive out of there, and had some darn good barbeque (although, I guess that's technically Aloha). Seemed like a nice enough area to live.

Re: Hillsboro area.
I moved to Oregon in 71 and to Hillsboro in 72 and never saw a real need to live anywhere but Hillsboro. Close enough to Portland for the trips to the VAMC and close enough to the coast for first rate fishing.
Never have had a problem. My son lives in Hillsboro close to 24th and main and he likes the heck out of it and the schools.

Re: Hillsboro area.
Been here since 1955.
Last year Hillsboro was rated in the top 3 Nationally as one of the most friendly towns in the nation.
There is a reson the Silicon Forest is here. An hour from the cost, the clack, the columbia, no extreem cold like the east side.
I like it..........

Re: Hillsboro area.
I've lived in Hillsboro all of my 57 yeaes and aside from some unavoidable problems associated with growth and proximty to a large urban area, the town has kept a real sense of community. I raised two great kids here and would have no qualms doing it again.
