Satellite tracking Coho movement?
Ok *warning* friend of a friend info here, grain of salt already included...
A good buddy of mine has a friend in the reserves up in Washington that says that major fish runs are actually tracked by satellite (not sure by who) and that what we have seen with coho is just the beggining of what to expect.
According to him, the run visible from space, is 30 miles wide and 40 miles long and has not quite gotten to Wa. state yet and is on its way down the coast from the direction of Alaska. Says the reason the movement is fairly slow would have to be that they are able to find food in plenty wherever they are.
If this is true, my question is, is there more than one run in the fall season? Is that typical?
Does this sound even remotely possible to have that many more fish on top of what we have already seen in numbers of coho this year?
If true, would they open coho back up outside again?
Whatcha think of this?
