Default Hunt Test/Training Club Contacts?

I did a few quick searches but only picked up stale info here on the board. I have an 8 month old yellow lab I've been training myself and she is doing great. I think she is ready for Junior Hunter tests and maybe even Senior Hunt tests. I've read the rules and she can consistently perform to these levels with dummies. I do however realize that dogs do not respond the same with all the distractions of other dogs, trainers, locations, rules, live/dead birds, etc. at trials as they do training one on one with the owner/trainer.

How do I get hooked up with a good local (Willamette Valley/Portland Metro Area) club/clubs and figure out how to locate hunt trials and get the registration process figured out? I really want to get my dog training in and around other dogs/trainers and I'd like some critique from other owners/trainers who have done the hunt test thing as to if she is ready and what to work on to get her better prepared.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Not trying to steal Springer43's thread but I have been wondering the same thing. I have a year old YLF.

First thought would be to follow Tilla's advice. You can also check http://www.akc.org/clubs/search/inde...uestTimeout=45 for a listing for AKC clubs in the area.

Another great resource for finding clubs and upcoming events is entryexpress.net. There you can find most of the hunt tests that are coming up throughout the year. Many clubs haven't finalized their events yet so not much is listed yet but they'll start showing up soon.

Many of the clubs will have training days or picnic events throughout the spring and these are great events to learn what to expect in an actual hunt test and get to know some great folks.
