Default Advise on running a pump in the bays...

OK...I am one of those that would rather not go to the bays in fear is getting my pump full of Seaweed..how do you all deal with this..I want to go...but feel I may either damage or get stuck out there...yes I have a kicker....

Since it’s the only boat I have (for now) I don’t let a little sea salad keep me at home. I have plugged my pump several times. I just run it up as fast as she’ll go and shut it down. The flow of water washes the sea weed away and off I go. It least that’s what works on one of these AWESOME sportjets (for boater ) Outboards you can tilt and clean.

Get out there and fish!

find yourself an old garden rake, and a piece of 1-2" aluminum tubing. Attach the rake end to the tubing, and, standing in the back of your boat, figure out how to bend it to easily reach your pump grate.

Now you have a long piece of bent metal that doesn't fit anywhere in your boat, and gets in the way of everything!!

My buddy has a new JetCraft with a sportjet on it and an option he bought that is a scraping rake below the jet. When the jet gets plugged, he just works a lever and its cleaned.

I don't know how much it would cost to have on installed but you might want to check into it.
