Default New Member Wants To Say Thanks

Hi All,

First of all I would like to thank all of the people that post here on Ifish. I appreciate everyone taking the time to share their experiences, insights, perspectives and opinions. This board is exciting to me because it covers such a range of fishing topics such as gear, places, politics (groan), and techniques. I grew up in Montana and have been in the northwest for about ten years and the Portland area for only about 5 years. This salmon and steelhead fishing is a whole new world to me.

Secondly, I would like to apologize to Fish Hunter for using this moniker. Last month we had stopped in Seaside, after a fabulous day of fishing at Buoy 10, and on a T-shirt in one of the stores was written "****** Monster". We both got a big laugh out of it. Fish Hunter stated that he should change his moniker and write "****** Monster" on the side of his cooler that he straps to the back of his North River. It's a little to late for him now, but he can still write it on the side of his cooler (but can only use the cooler if he takes me fishing with him). He is a great guy and if any of you have a chance to fish with him, TAKE IT.

I have a lot of questions and I appreciate having the opportunity to ask them here and hopefully I will be able to contribute a little bit.

Add this to the list of famous last words: I wonder what this button is for.

Welcome to ifish N o o k i e Monster (that's one way around the programmed word censure astericks - geez, what's wrong with n o o k i e anyway; either kind for that matter? :rolleyes . I am always interested in fishermen that came from my native state of Montana. I moved out here from Missoula when I was young, but have gotten back to visit relatives and fish the blue ribbon trout streams lots of times. Which part of MT did you come from?

****** Monster....hmmmm the moniker forces visions of an open-market air about it, with a visual of bungalows and the lights of Saigon in the Christmas.

Welcome.

I like that 'Johnny Mac' - Fits with Bobby Darin's song Mack The Knife; "Look out, that Johnny Mac is back in town!" tada boomp.

And just to let ya know Rick, it's down south with 'Yall's homies that everyone is related; only about 1/3 of 'em in MT.

But I must say the blue fur thang is a new one to me Slow Roll But I do remember when I was a youngin back in MT my bros and I used to ask Dad why there was usually little clumps of wool around the rims of most cowboy's boots. He'd just mutter out "that must be from there socks". 'But Dad, their socks are red and the wool looks just like it came off those sheep out there in that field'. "Mind yer own business boy and quite askin so many dumb questions". This from a man that used my older bro Gary and I in place of hunting dogs to run thru the fields of the Bitteroot Valley to flush pheasants up into the air so he and his hunting buddy could blast them with shotguns - well over our heads of course. It only lasted until we told Mom how much fun we thought that was. She let Dad have it with 'both barrels' over that. It wasn't as bad as it sounds actually - and it worked. And my bro and I raced to get the the downed birds first ... and carry them back to Dad in our teeth.

I know your older than me RT, but you aren't too old to remember Sesame Street and the real Cookie Monster.

And no, I'm not that young either.

Velcro chaps anyone.

Course out here with the civilized folk here that kinda thing is looked down upon.

Welcome to the NW NM. I too came to the Great NW from Montana. I have been here for a long time though and moved here when I was only 12. That was in 1964. i guess that makes me really old. I last lived out of Bozeman in a little town called Mahattan. Sure wouls like to go back to the Gallitin Valley some time for a Vacation.
