Default Sellwood Today (Friday)

It's pretty windy. Either way I'm going to be under the Sellwood Br. today. Thought about going back to Oregon City but decided to go back to the old stomping ground.

Will report back later.

See you there, but rarely see many caught in the east wind...

Yep, cold and breezy. There were about fifteen boats today. Two fish boated above the bridge and two in front of W Park from the same boat. All fish were caught before noon. I left at 1:00 today. I didn't even get a sniff. I was down river when the Chief landed his fish. He has been fishing for almost two weeks now. Good for him. He's put his time in.

The bait of choice appears to be small cut plug herring with or with out a flasher. The boat that caught two were using a silver triangle flasher commonly use behind the Delta diver at bouy 10.

Hey, I've got a dumb question. When people refer to fishing "Sellwood" for the most part are we talking trolling or anchoring? Thanks for the report S F.

It was windy today. Bring your heater! I never saw a fish caught except the 3 we landed. We hung up the herring rods and sturgeon fished.

Anchoring is forbidden. This is a trolling only zone. Has been for at least the 20 years I have been in the area. Above the bridge and in front of W. Park as well. The only place you can anchor and get by with it is at the "Green Can" which is a green bouy about 300 yrd's down stream of the bridge. When it gets real crowded say in another month I would question it then. Very, very, busy area.

OHHHHHH! Anchor is a very very bad word at Sellwood

Sellwood has a long steep tradition of trolling and has proven the most effective way to fish there.

Back in the day they used to troll East to West but have been going North to South for the last couple of decades.

Can't wait. I'll be there in the A.M.

You can always tell the newbies to the Sellwood area. Later in the Months to come keep an eye out and look at what the majority is doing and follow suit. You wont get so many scowls.

If you need an anchor fix. Go up river.

Way to go Chief! The Chief is a great guy and an excellent fishing and hunting partner. Haven't talked to him in a while, but I hope he is doing well and I look forward to fishing with him this spring.

Jeez, Chief never quits. They're gonna have to name the bridge after him.

Sellwood is not a good place for non-conformists. Go with the flow and you'll be fine.
I operate a little out of the ordinary 'cuz I troll both ways. Most people just troll upstream, then turn around and blast back down to the bridge. I've caught fish going downstream, so I keep doing it.
