Re: The 2009 Ford F-150 is unveiled
IDFishrite,
If you win the lottery, I would not spend the money on a Ford F150. Buy a Chevy instead. This new F150 will most likely be a another piece of crap from Ford. My 2004 F150(First year of totally redesigned F150) is a complete piece of garbage with to many problems to list. Basically poor quality from start to finish. It is still under warranty but I don't even bother brining it back to the dealer anymore, because they just look for reasons not to have to fix it. I'm seriously considering trading in my F150 (with only 22K in miles and paid for) for a Chevy just to be rid of it.

I agree about the looks, F150 is the best looking. That is why I bought it. The reality is I don't care about looks as much after having to deal with this hunk of garbage.

Ford F series have always been nice looking trucks. By releasing the pictures so soon, I wonder what it will do for the 2008 sales?

Re: The 2009 Ford F-150 is unveiled
Sounds like you got a lemon. Sorry for the bad luck. My brother has had his 04 since it was new and has no problem. If I could get away with a half ton truck, I would run right out and buy a used F150. They are nice trucks

2004 with 22k miles. You need to drive that thing! My 2004 with 73k has not been in the shop once.

Re: The 2009 Ford F-150 is unveiled
Cast Away, have you had the same problems over and over that the dealer can't fix on your truck. I don't know the laws for Washington, but we had a Nissan Altima that spent so much time in the shop for the same thing that Nissan ended up buying it back from us. We contacted the Better Business Bureau and they were great to work with. It took about two to three months for everything to happen.

Re: The 2009 Ford F-150 is unveiled
Look guys I have always been a "Buy American First" person. I don't think my truck is a lemon necessarily it just has way to many problems for a newer truck with only 22K. Most of the problems are known issues with Ford and have coresponding TSB numbers. The problem is many of them they admit they do not currently have a fix for. For instance the truck shakes violently over 60 mph and Ford says it is within tolerance. Funny because the tires are wearing unevenly also. Plus a whole other host of problems that would take to much time to list. If you don't believe me go to www.autosafety.org and compare a 2004 F150 to a Toyota Tundra or Cherolet Silverado, you will see over 140 TSB's for Ford and only 20 or so for the others.
Infinity,
I don't care about the Ford Vs. Chevy debate , UGGHHHH!!!, I have no real preference. I bought the Ford because I think it is the best looking truck. The truth is now I care less about looks and care a lot more about the real quality of the truck.
Dave G,
The reason for the low miles is I have a company vehicle for the daily driver. The truck is mostly used to tow the boat(it sits in the garage 5 days a week). Plus with the fuel mileage at around 12-13 mpg city I don't really see a need to use it to pick up a gallon of milk at the store.

It kind of looks like the new GMC's.

Re: The 2009 Ford F-150 is unveiled
Not bad look'n....just not enough power overall.....Looks like a nice city cruiser though!!!...I think most fords have a nicer body style than Chevy, but I choose reliability over looks.... ....but I do love the looks my beasty chev with the Duramax!!....No really its a good look'n truck....sounds like it will do a little better than the previous years...Probably alot more money too.....but than again everything gets more expensive every year....

Re: The 2009 Ford F-150 is unveiled
If I were in the market for a half-ton truck, I would wait until 2010 when Ford, Dodge and Chevy will all offer half-ton trucks with common rail diesel engines.

Are they going to give them any more horse power? They are miles behind everyone else.

Re: The 2009 Ford F-150 is unveiled
I have an 06 f150 and really like it but that one looks like a brick. Almost like a Honda from the front, or a similar look to the mid 80s/early 90's Fords with the rectangular headlights.

My 2004 -150 super crew 4x4 has 68000 miles pullin my 2004-6000lb prowler travel trailer and 4000 lb boat all over the country elk hunting and fishing- no defects. It cost $26000 new -I felt like a cheapo when I bought it. I also got a 2003 chevey 1500 I use as a delivery truck. It had some minor issues but is very much on par with my ford. 300 hp is more than enough for 7000lbs( rated @10000lbs- under powerd for that) If you tow more you need a bigger truck. Its plenty fast enough when you consider how much gas it sucks down 14-16 mpg. It takes a tank to hall my trailer to tillamook and back to portland.
