Stressed out
After the event of 9/11 we seem to be easily annoyed at one another here on ifish or quick to take offense, either right or wrong,at something someone else has posted. I'm not going to offer any pearls of wisdom on how to deal with it because I have no idea myself... I mean I've had my "meltdowns" on here too! a lot of us have. a lot of us have never experienced anything like what happened on 9/11 and it will take us a long time to figure out how to deal with it and who knows we may never fully recover. The only thing I can liken it to is when President Kennedy was shot and I was only 10 at the time! Almost 40 years later his death is still a raw wound that some have never gotten over. So if you are a little more edgy and irritable than before it's perfectly understandable. I can only suggest that maybe we take a little extra time to think about it before we post that "snotty" come back or maybe we shouldn't post things that we know will draw a negative reaction. Heck I'm saying this as much to myself as to anyone of you. So while it's easy to say "let's just stick to fishing" it's not as easily done. I'll try my best but my best is all I can do as I'm sure it is for the rest of you. I remember reading about the aftermath of JFK's death someone said "Will we ever laugh again?" Someone else said "We'll laugh again but we'll never be young again"
Take Care

Re: Stressed out
Stew, you are right!
I have been guilty of some pretty petty posting on another forum and really never felt good about any of those posts. Just had to express some opinions without thinking them thru I guess.
I've come to love this site for its info and insight from the members here. There is normally a lack of animosity, but on occasion it rears its ugly head and causes some to respond negatively.
We all need to remember what Rodney King said--
Can't we all just get along?
Ifish should be for fishing, let's keep it that way.
May God bless Jennie and may we all thank her for briniging us this forum.

Re: Stressed out
Excellent post Stew, the events of 9/11 have changed how we do things for ever. I still have a hard time not being able to help. It is hard to deal with the helplessness. Take time to realize everything you have and tell the ones you love that you do love them. Life is short and we dont always let those close to us know how we feel.Try and realize when you are edgy and not snap at others, I am just as guilty of this as anyone and when my fiancee told me the other day that I am snapping at her a lot lately I realized that I was taking my frustrations out on her and she isnt to blame.
I know this is a fishing board but talking things out is healthy and this was a huge event and if everyone thinks that it is time to move on then they can go ahead and do that I personally think there is more healing time involved and that if people want to talk about it then they should. Take care all. Firedog.

Re: Stressed out
Nice post Stew, good advice. Like my old accounting teacher said, whenever you feel pressured to make a decission or feel the need to respond negativly......"sleep on it", most things in life somehow seem less important or at least clearer in the morning after a full nights rest.

Re: Stressed out
Had my "test" yesterday morning. Thank GOD for the Hillsboro FD. Woke up and tried to get up, but all of a sudden the entire world started spinning real fast at 360 degrees.
My first real 911 call and ambulance ride to the emergency room. Turns out the crud I have got into my inner ear resulting in full blown "Vertigo." Scared the pants right off of me. Local Hillsboro FD and EMS was here in minutes! Sincere thanks to them both!
Thought it was the big one and fishing was over. Got me on something to keep it calmer until it goes away. Never been that "seasick" in my own bed!

Re: Stressed out
Kuwell Fear. Best to you and the new Mrs.! It might have been a post-nightmare attack of seeing the anchor drop 25 yards behind my boat, with my Dad's 50 pounder screaming downriver.
