Default Coastal " sincerity and appreciation" !!!!

OK, here are some things to ponder before repling to replies to a post:

So, I by no means think that I am a good steelhead fishermand or master of any river in Oregon.

I love taking pictures and catching fish. I am a begginner steelhead fisherman that has been away from them for then ten years and in "Total Awe" of how good the fishing has been.

I by no means am fishing anywhere that is a secret. However, there are some that want to know and many more that already know. Really, does it matter? No, and the river I fish in it's hay day was much more famous and crowded than now, no matter what anyone says.

Seems that some of the really good fisherman are anoyyed by my posts. For this I am very sorry, there are they guys that I have the greatest respect and admiration for.

I like to take pictures, especially of a creature so magnificent as steelhead. I also love to post them on Ifish. I am not bragging and have found a "niche" so to speak in which to share my pictures and reports.

I feel that there are alot of fisherman that enjoy the posts and tech tips. Sorry to the ones that I have affend or think that I am tryin to brad, just in amazement of my own meager success of averaging 3 fish per trip (mostly half day trips).

My fishing trips are about getting away from classes like Calculus and Genetics so I can finish up my degree in Biology w/ sp option in Fisheries.

The goal is not always to catch fish, but to improve my fishing techniques, fish new water, and most of all have fun. This certainly lowers my catch ratio, but that is what I like.
Alot of times I fish "marginal" water and "marginal" techniques just for the shear challenge. I only hit the total zoo area's when I need more confidence or the water is high. I am fishing water more and more that is less fished. I really enjoy days like today when there is not another fisherman in sight and I am catching them where I have seen no one all winter, that is true gratification. It would surely be enough for me to fall asleep not ever posting a thread and sharing my pictures.

I have found alot of Ifisher's that seem to think I am coming off as some know it all or making up this or that on a partiacular topic about both fishing and fisheries biology.
I assure u that I could dig up literature about both..... and prove that I am correct most things. So, hopefully I receive no more threats from Ifishes to beat me up..... But, for those that want to....... and think they are tough enough... all I can say is that I fight dirty and hope u can swim... cause that is too bad that they have nothing better to do then think about kickin some dude's a.. on Ifish or finding him on the river someday.

FYI:
Kenai Pennisula streams i.e. Ninilchik, Deep Creek, and Anchor river especially where severly impacted by sport over harvest(ADFG).http://www.sf.adfg.state.ak.us/state...SCkenaipen.pdf

Here is ADFG summary on why they justify keeping a steelhead over 36" in SE:
http://www.sf.adfg.state.ak.us/state...pdfs/trout.pdf

This way 92% of the steelhead in South East are unhavestable... hmmm let me think about why that is......

Steelhead multiple return rates can be as high as 30% under certain conditions and river, the average is thougt to be around 15% and can very greatly year to year and river to river.'

When someone posts things like this, relize that there is always a study or something that may negate this. Science is always changing and shifting like the channal of a river.

Info I share by far is not from just one source and ussually if combined with my own experience in the field and more imprtantly by professionals that I have worked with and asked them one annoying fisheries question after another, untill even they get sick of talking about fisheries, but noooo not me, can't get enough of that stuff..

So in lue of the questions of my credibility, I will site some the Proffetionals in the Field that I have probed over the years that are much better source than one single research paper:

ODFW Fisheries Profesionals, past and current:
Bob Buckman, Randy Reeve, Dennis Wise, Thomas Riemrick, Gary Susac, Ron Williams, Steve Mamoyak, Ken Flizaar, Eric Shindler, Brian Riggers, Steve Jacobs, Steve King, Patty Farthing gosh I know more but can't remeber them all..

Alaska USFWS Fisheries:
Ken Harper, Gary Sonoval, Doug Molanoix, Doug Palmer, Ken Gates, David Cannon, Rich Gannon, Rich Canon, Randy Brown.........

Montana State Fisheies:
Ilene Carter, Thomas McMannon, Bob White....

And at this point my mind is bling bling fizzeled you dizzled cause I can't remeber any more..... but there are many more all which have involved conversations about fisheries that inspre intricate and cridical thinking .

I wont even start with all the books articles and literature that I consume, let alone bore u with the kewl and exciting thing that the USFWS field office that I work at has cooking.....

So that is just a little more about me, so those that misunserastand me may understand where I am coming from and give me a break when I come accross ignorant and unatriclulated be cause I am so discused with a few and i mean few Ifish members about flamming and inflamitory remarks, personal attacks, and i.e. threats. Lots of times I post at school with computere where the keyboarsds are screwed up and I am in a rush and don't take the time to edit or I am tired from fishing, studing, or just plain worn out from the good ol' past time of chasing some college woman.

Ty Brau, Here's hoping I'm not on your Sh*% list  Though I may be on KHH's ( and rightfully so I should add )
That being said, I enjoy your post as they aren't braggin', but thankfully ( I need all the help I can get ) more instructive.
All your reports give details as to the technique used and most of the time have pictures. I have made up some of the "Kinky" slinkies, have used them for a few hours, and have now installed the tubing type sinkers on my jig/bobber rig.
Keep on posting, not all of us can fish as much as yourself, but your shared trips are great to hear about. I can only guess you're fishing the Siletttz and or Alsea ?

Peace.

Hey Ty
I think that if you can find something you really like and make it your passion and then path in life, then hooray for you, you are very lucky!
What other people think is just that, other people, not you.
So, keep following your heart and you will be doing the right thing!
You, Dude, are doing something that most people can`t, or won`t do. That may make some of them uncomfortable. That is their problem!

Thank you for posting your pics! I get all hyped-up and ready to go when I see all that chrome, and I am learning ways to rig up that never would have occurred to me!

I would add that if you are getting email threats you should forward them to the moderating crew and those folks need to have their priveleges here revoked.

As for your posts, party on dude.

Keep them coming TY. I had a hot streak last year on the Santiam. It seemed like there were a few who were tired of my pics every day. I moved here six years ago from the midwest. I had NEVER caught a salmon or steelhead for that matter. I joined IFISH, and got some tips, and had a buddy get me into a spot taht prodced well for us. I posted a few pics and told about where we were catching them, and the next day, the hole was stacked. I am not necessarily into keeping it zipper lipped, but if you want to have a nice spot to fish, there are times you have to. That is why I don't post too many stories or pics anymore. I enjoy hearing about people catching fish. Its a great day when you can spend it on the river. I love the pics. If everyone wants to keep their special spot, let them. If you want to keep posting pics and stories, go ahead. I personally like reading it.

Fish on!!!!!

By the looks of it I would consider you a good steelhead fisherman, if you dont then you should buy a lottery ticket.

Honestly, it's no secret which rivers hold steelhead in the NW. I could care less if you mention which one of the hundred you were on because in any given day one spot could be hot and dead in a matter of 24 hours when fish are passing through. The mad ones are the jealous ones that they can't do the same. Keep 'em coming just for spite of the lowlifes that want to bash someone being successful. If this was always the case 5cents and his crew of salmon catchers would be the most hated among Ifishers.

To all of those who want to dance with Ty about fisheries biology...good luck! He has lived fish since he was in high school. He was setting fish traps and collecting migration data when other kids his age were trying to balance on a skateboard. (Way back before skate parks were invented) He is a wealth of info, that he will share...most of the time, without asking

Good Luck, Dude! I think we need to find a new river! You have pillaged this one clean!

Ty,
Keep them comming. I love your posts. I dont care where your fishing. I would never make it down in that area anyway. All of your sucessful trips just inspire me that someday maybe I can do the same. Ignore the threats, they are just jealous.
You shouldnt have to put up with threats, that is going way to far. Who ever you are you need to grow up. Its just fishing. The man is following his dream in life to work in a field that he really has a passion for. I wish I would have followed my dreams.
Ty, please dont stop posting tips or pictures. The people that enjoy them far outweigh the rest.

I know Jennie will read this and hope she gets in contact with you, this is absurb.

All i know is it is smart to think before you post! alot of you people think this website has no effect on the amount of people that show up at a hole the next day? well tagalong learned a hard lesson, i fished the same hole for years, about 20, and after that post he made late last spring ,i saw what happened after that, you can not tell me all thoses people just had a feeling thats where the fish were? well i have had to find different spots now and i guess it was a good thing because we explored and came up with a lot nicer hole! with no big crowds.

Once you start to put up the real numbers, many folks just cant stand it anymore and will start to talk about you and put you down.

Don't let it bother you man, instead you should be flattered.

TY,i know where your coming from,i've always been fairly sucessful at hunting/fishing,some feel that you must be doing something illeagal to always get your deer/elk/fish,and that makes them jealous,so they lash out,if they put as much time into learning whatever it is they enjoy doing then they too can become like those of us who have spent the time and energy to know all we can about our sport.those type of people are always going to find a reason to badmouth someone they may or may not even know.keep up the post and pics.i know i enjoy them, for those that don't,they are in no way obligated to read anything you have to say,if they hate you that much why do they even bother following your posts

For the record. I enjoy your posts and pictures and hope that you don't stop. Sometimes I might not understand your math but that doens't mean that I don't like your style.

I have yet to see to many steelhead pictures.

You say that you are not bragging but what is the point of doing something well if you don't get to show it off sometimes. To me, that is what IFISH is all about. A large group to share our ups and downs with. Fortunately you are experiencing lots of ups right now.

Anyway, hope to see you on the river sometime. Grant

I'm not much of a steelhead bankie, but I have enjoyed your posts.

You do all the things right, good quality pics that do not tip the location, frank discussion and tips on your methods, location doesn't matter, and you don't mention it.

Discussions of conservation and harvest are open discourse. Put on a thick skin and go for it.

Keep on keepin on.

Ty join the club man!

Let me fill you in on something about these boards, you cant please all the people all the time. I am sure the vast majority of people, including myself, love to see the pics and reports you post... I read every one!

Dont worry about what the negative people say about you they have other issues and just take it out on you. They are not happy with themselves so they have to lash out at someone and doing so over the computer makes them feel tough. Its funny when you meet them in person and they are just little lumps on a log

If you post a lot of pictures you will get a lot of but just let it run off of you like water off a ducks back. Dont fall into the trap of shooting back at people and just keep being yourself

Lets hook up for some springer action in a few weeks and really give them soemthing to talk about

Ty, Doing what you do is exactly what this site is about, I myself strongly disapprove of the careless display of protected fish, Keep showing us the fish...and how you catch them...but i kinda feel slighted by the fact that i have not been threatened bodily harm by someone that doesn't have the fishing ability/knowledge i have (maybe cuz i'm no lump on a log) I want to see some results on the big river from you  Ain't no bobbers on the big river

Ty...it's because of your pictures that I don't schedule anything before 10 am . Keep up the good work.
