Fishin mission steps down from moderator
Here is a big heart felt thank you for Fishin Mission's involvement and voluntary role as moderator.
It is a difficult role to play and often very personally destructive.
He has done a great service to ifish and I wanted to thank him personally.
He said that after September 11th he has rethought was is important to him.
I have done my share of this also, and can seriously relate to that statement.
Another statement from The Reel Fishin mission:
"My leaving has nothing to do with Jen...I'm a firm believer in this site
being fishing related..and nothing but...but there are those who believe this
discussion board should include ANY topics...and frankly...that's not what it
was created for."
So, that said, "Bye bye to Fishin Mission".
He says he'll be back.

I'm sorry to see him go, but I totally understand.
This is a very difficult job to do, and believe me, I can relate to his stepping down.
I have to say, people, that sometimes some of your chronic complaining is very hard to swallow.
I try my very best, as I am sure Fishin Mission has also. No matter what we do, we can't make everyone happy.
We are a diverse group of people with very different opinions.
Expect whirrled peas, I guess.
Thank you, Mark, for your time and efforts, and catch many more feesh!
Jen

Re: Fishin mission steps down from moderator
Mark,
Thanks for all the hard work and the reports and tech....particularly the information for fall Salmon at Frenchman's. Stay in touch and I look forward to seeing you out there again.
I get a little tired of the union meeting and other threads that are non related taking place in this fishing forum myself. It would seem that maybe there are other boards or websites that are devoted to those subjects.
Thanks again Mark!

Re: Fishin mission steps down from moderator
The job of moderator is probably like the job of driving when trolling with downriggers: "Hey - we're dragging bottom!, Hey!, you're in too deep water, Hey - you're turning too sharp!
Everybody's got a complaint unless you do a perfect job - then you will hear nothing - which is the best you can hope for. Forget about appreciation for your effort.
Well, for what it's worth, Thank You, Fishin Mission.

Fishin Mission, Thanks for all your hard work in a thankless job. Sometimes people forget that someone has to do the dificult jobs and forget to thank those that do them so thanks again.

Great job FishinMission. Sorry to see you step down, but I can sympathize. Hope to see you and your lovely wife Jan out on the river real soon. Thanks for all the tips (I really appreciated them during springer season!). Best of luck and catch some fish!

FM, although we haven't met, I love ya man!
You and your wisdom have a seat in my boat anytime! Of course, you'd better bring your "better half".
Niki wouldn't have it any other way.
Come on up to Hobart for some cold ones and fishing stories anytime.

Re: Fishin mission steps down from moderator
Hey Mark RT and I would like to welcome you to the ex-mods club! You have become a very good friend of mine and I appreciate all you've done on ifish. Your presence as moderator will be missed! There is only one Fishinmission here on ifish and you're it! I totally understand your need to get away from the hassle of being moderator. Hey you've got a seat in my "future" boat anytime.
Thanks pal,
Stew

Re: Fishin mission steps down from moderator
FM, I never even fish the Columbia, but I appreciate your obvious expertise and advice. I try to dish out general advice when I get the chance, but as is not the case with your very generous Columbia information, I am fearful my rivers would get swamped if I gave advice with so much detail. The information you dish out is the reason I return so often to this site.
I have been one of the Bandwidth Stretchers at times past, if I caused headaches for you, sorry. Trying to reform.
Hey, if you ever want to catch some steelhead in the rivers around my area, let me know. You have a seat in my boat anytime.

Re: Fishin mission steps down from moderator
FM, we have never met or exchanged posts. The main reason is I agree with you opinions and we wouldn't have much to exchange. Even when I did get the notion to post, there you went posting what I wanted to say anyways.
So I guess this means I'll have to start posting more.
Thanks for covering me while I lurked.

Re: Fishin mission steps down from moderator
Mark,
One of the best things about this board has been the opportunity to meet people with shared interests and share knowledge of a sport/passion we love. Meeting and fishing with you is a highlight of my Ifish experience. I enjoy your generosity and look forward to seeing you on the river. Thanks for all you've contributed to this forum. Your subtle touch will be missed.

Re: Fishin mission steps down from moderator
Mark, Please stay a little longer and play, I hate to see you leave your moderator position. Life just won't be the same around here without you. I certainly understand you relinquishing your mod role and wish you nothing but the best. Sure wish we had that party this summer, would have been nice to chat fishing other then on the board. If the opportunity presents itself, let's get together for some fishing.
Take care Mark and thanks for all your hard work and effort helping making IFish a better place for all of us.

Re: Fishin mission steps down from moderator
Thanks for being an even keeled and non-intrusive moderator Mark. You came in and did the job when there was something that really needed it, and we appreciate that a lot. And of course we also appreciate your shared fishing knowledge. Thanks.
Now you can relax and part-take when you want to. And read what you want to. It's a relief I think you will enjoy. Looking forward to more of your good posts. Take care. - Steve

I'm sure God didn't create us to go and do a lot of things.
Again, thanks for the work as mod. Pretty soon we might have a posse of mods who believe this place to be a community.

FM, I'm saddened to see you go and I hope it is not permanent. I, like others have learned much about the Columbia river fishery and couldn't have done it without your indepth and detailed information.
My family will pray for you and your wife that you will seek peace and joy within your hearts.

Mark,
I am going to miss you as a moderator. You have done a great job keeping things to a dull roar. Even more so, I have enjoyed our friendship and fishing trips. You and your wife are great people. I hope that you will continue to post those reports. Keep those up buddy.

Re: Fishin mission steps down from moderator
I don't know if Jen plans on a replacement moderator for Mark, to keep a 3 assistant effort intact. If so, I will put forth my .02 cent suggestion to have one of our qualified Washington members join the mod squad. There is a significant % of our northern neighbors as members here. I would also suggest a good candidate for that would be Gizmo Man (Walt). He is very overall knowledgable and has leadership experience as President of the Washington Flyfishers Association. He also makes a lot of sense with posts when things go awry. Besides, if he deletes me - I know where he lives.

I hate to see you step down as a mod and hope your not leaving ifish altogether. Your posts on fishing are a valuable asset here. On the other hand maybe now we can get out fishing. You've done a great job in a thankless position.

Fishin Mission
Thanks for all your hard work on keeping this board in check. I really appreciate all of your tech reports, especially on the Columbia River. You really help me out alot. You will truly be missed as Moderator. I only hope, as others have also expressed, that you don't leave the board all together. I know that being a Mod has to be time consuming and stressful, but they are very needed. Thanks again for filling this role the way that you did. I don't know you personally, but if you ever want to fish the Washougal, shoot me an email anytime.
Happy Fishin,
Mike

FM,
Thanks for your investment of endless hours as moderator. You must be proud of your 'Tour of Duty'. You were unbiased and even handed, without exception. Consistantly and reasonably enforcing the guidelines of this site.
Shoot me an e-mail for a fully outfitted, guaranteed 'nooker trip in beautiful, mildewy Columbia County! Where the days are a bit darker and the fish are a bit brighter!

Re: Fishin mission steps down from moderator
Thanx for all the comments, people. We ALL know this place is addicting...so I knew I wouldn't be leaving Ifish, just leaving a "mod" position.
Yesterday...while out on the river, slurping down a nice cold Bud (Nuetron...that's BEER)or two or three, I was thinking.."Gee...I can still post things like I used to, and now I can read just the posts I want to, and not all of them. And if they get ugly...I can just dismiss them. And besides that, when I get home from work, and want to hit the river...I can just go...and not browse through here first."
So that means I ought to get at least an hour more fishing time when I go after work.
I'm glad if I helped anybody get into some fish...as that was my main objective as a "mod"...
You know...if I really helped you get some fish...I'd like to hear your stories.
See ya on the water...and oh yeah...here too!! Gotta go..got eggs to cure, and a nice fat coho to vacuum pack!!

Re: Fishin mission steps down from moderator
This board has grown so enormous, I can't imagine trying to read every post. I just got back from hunting after a week last night and you would need to be retired with nothing to do to read a weeks worth of threads. I'm getting a headache just thinking about it.
It's a highly underated assignment. How can three people accomplish the task???
Thanks to Mr. Mission for serving his country as a Ifish mod. Thanks also to Jen for being a duck and letting certain comments roll off her back like water. It continues to be a premier site in my book.
