Camas is always good to me and was very good yesterday afternoon. A 58" FAT gator is now in my freezer!

The wife and I hit T-6 late Monday afternoon for Sturgeon at high slack tide. She tagged a 44" fatty and I threw back a 41.5" that gave a decent fight. We only fished a few hours but fed a lot of Cowlitz river smelt to the shakers.

I made "Poor Man's Lobster" tonight with the fresh sturgeon and the kid's wolfed it down asking for more. Love that stuff!!

There you go! Look around, the fish are not concentrated this time of year. Thanks for the reports.

I have heard the term "Poor man's Lobster" a couple times and someone told me of cooking sturgeon in sugar water or something like that. Could anyone share the recipe? I dont really like sturgeon all that much and give it away to friends who cant get out but I may cut down their ration if I can come even relatively close to Lobster.
Would appreciate any clues.

You can do ANYTHING with sturgeon!!! The firm meat, much like halibut, lends it to: Smoke, fry, deep fry, barbecue, broil, bake, yada, yada, yada. One of my favorites it to take enough chunks for eating, put in a gallon freezer bag, add 1 cup teryaki sauce, shake it up, and let is sit for 2-4 hours. Then BBQ!!

I was at Kelly Point yesterday afternoon...wrong tide, windy and rough, yet the bite was fierce....all shakers though. I'd look toward tounge point for keepers.

The best tasting trick we have found for making the "Poor man's Lobster" is to boil 1" cubes of Sturgeon in straight 7-Up. As soon as it starts to float it is done. Serve with melted butter and garlic. Don't over cook it.
