Default Public waterfowl hunting near Albany

Just made the decision to try and do some bird hunting (duck). I've never hunted birds out here. Did alot back home in South Dakota but got into the fishing pretty heavily when I moved out here. I have a young shorthair which I would like to introduce to some gunfire and some birds. She's ready for some bird scent.

I'm basically looking for some public access OTHER than hunting out of a boat. I have a drifter but an 8hp. kicker won't do much on the Willi. Jessie doesn't care for the water to much. Somewhere along the river where I can walk and maybe catch some quackers coming in. Preferably somewhere where there is little presure even if it means little or no fowl. I just don't want to disrupt anybodys hunting with an imature dog in training. I know finding some private land would be best. I'll work on that this next year. Just want to get out before the end of this season.

If anyone can point me in the right direction to at least do a little more research it would be much appreciated.

If you have a driftboat, just drift either the Willamette or, better, either of the Santiams.

Not many ducks are shot at EE Wilson, about the only public land close to you...Might be able to research the greenway a little.

Good luck.

Had that thought already. Just don't care for the high water; which is actually beneficial for birds. I'd feel a little more comfortable with a little more power under me. Thanks Bill.

Eric,

I know some people in Brownsville that have property I used to duck hunt on...I'll try to contact them and see if I can hook you up.
