Default Opinions needed for a great Boat mechanic

I would like your opinions on a good place to take my boat in for a tune up, here in the Portland Metro area. I have a 1996, 40 hp, electric start, oil injected Mercury/prop. Just need to have it checked to make sure everything's on the up & up. Have heard not so good thing's about Harvey's. I really wouldn't want to bring it back home in a box. Who would you trust your life to??? Please advise.
Your resonse is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
springer4you

Hey Spring, I have had good luck with Stevens Marine in Tigard. They gave good service, price is ok and my motors ran great.

You might try North river Boats out in Clackamas. Terry, who used to be at South River Marine is supposed to be one of the best around. You can also try Beaver marine, suppposed to be good and have real fair prices.

Try Tom's Outboard Service in Milwaukie. Be sure he gives you a quote before the work is started. Also, cash talks with TOM. Usually in the form of a discount. He does very well with the Mercs.

Caution, he is very busy but very good. Good luck. Looks like you have some good recommendations here.
