Any Hewes Owners here?
I hit the Boat Show Thursday evening and took a hard look at the 24' Hewes Alaskan on display. This boat was powered w/ twin 135 honda's.
Looked like a very solid boat for frolicking out in the tuna waters.
Anyone have one, or been on one??
Twin power would be nice, but going with a 250 yami/T8 setup might be an alternative.
Any info.. good/bad about these boats would be great...
BTW.. that Cat Aman is showing off is one nice ride!!

I saw that 24' Alaskan also! (Sweet Boat) It's enough to make me wanna sell my Searunner and never look back! The twin 135's are an ideal ocean setup imho.

Re: Any Hewes Owners here?
I had a 22' Searunner for a couple of years. Good solid boat.

Along with Odin's link...use the 'search' feature to read the past IFish discussions.
FYI, I'll likely soon be offering for sale a completely outfitted 179 SeaRunner. Not a tuna boat, but very versatile.

Re: Any Hewes Owners here?
ive got a 20' Thunderjet, and im having the 2 foot/ more offshore itis..
I still want something that i can anchor in the river, and has more freeboard and dry riding for offshore. The big NR offshores are nice, but i dont need the cuddy, and need the open bow.. The deadrise on the 24' Hewes is 42 degrees up front, So it should be a nice ride in the chop....

Re: Any Hewes Owners here?
I was kind of surprised by the open bow on an ocean boat. Not really something you want for out on the big blue. Personally, I'd keep it really shallow and make sure you have some big scuppers installed up there.

The Scuppers are really big, and will drain the bow very quickly....... don't ask me how I know this.
