Default Welcome Stan!

Stan has written his column, and I put it up Here on the board,
and on the ifish main site.
Watch the board for archived and the new ones.
I'm really glad to have him aboard!
Jen

Welcome back Stan. I look forward to reading your articles. Are peacock bass more aggressive biters than largemouth? I've always wondered that. Planning on 2 vacation trips next year. Peacock bass could be on the agenda since airfare is so cheap right now. Anyways, welcome welcome, look out for that Osprey guy, Tanner, RT, Bait O' Eggs, Willierower, Timber Man, Superfly, Parker, Kid Sauk, Dogfish, and a bunch more. I hear nothing but bad things about those guys.

I had the pleasure of meeting Stan and having him autograph his book, "Catch More Bass" Kingdome 15 years ago. We also got to see him do his trick casting.
If any of you get the chance to meet him and see him at one of the sportsmen shows, DO IT!

The memory of his taking time out to talk to my girls and me stays with us, still.

This is a great thing for ifish that has happened!

Thank you Jen and Stan!

Hi Stan. Glad you are back with ifish.

I met Stan at the 2000 Expo (outdoor show) and had a nice visit with him. Really a nice guy. Then I was simply amazed at his castings skills. Before his show he warmed up by having me stand about 60 feet away and hold my finger out to the side. He casted a light weight 'something or other' hookless lure from that far away and wrapped the end of the line around the first knuckle on my finger a few times. Never missed the first knuckle. If you have any riverfront property and are tired of having guys get out of their driftboats to take a leak on your bank/backyard, I got an idea >>> have Stan hide behind a tree with his rod and .... ah, nevermind - ooooouch!

I also recall a couple other things he did during the show. He can cast a lure out a good distance and have it curve around an object (you have to see it!). He also can cast a long ways with great accuracy without a backcast. He does this by holding the rod straight out toward the target and pulling the lure back at him such that the rodtip is bent way back and then he releases it, similar to a bow and arrow principle. You can stand streamside with thick trees or bushes right at your back and cast just fine this way, if you get it down good. ... Hey Stan, I gotta tell ya that I was so impressed by that move I went home to practice it and broke 3 rodtips trying to master the no-backcast cast. Nah, just kidding. But I did get it down fairly well on short casts. It's just that I am afraid to flex my rod enough to cast a long ways >>> snap! I wouldn't know what to say to the Lami or Loomy rep/inspector. Oh ya, the standard "It just broke when the fish jumped" Those guys are so tired of hearing 'stories' for rod returns that they commonly get carpal tunnel syndrome in their eyelids, and curled lip syndrome.

Take care Stan and I will see you at the upcoming shows.
